Imagine if there was a MK MMO that played like MK Shaolin Monks,except open world,but the fighting system was similar,none of this turn based and slow moving stuff,all combo and free flowing fighting, you could do quests and such,if you wanted to be part of the lin kuei or similar you would have to go to there monastery and complete a number of difficult tasks to wear the garbs, and every year they hold the mortal kombat tournament were you can participate similar to MK SM Vs mode,or you can watch...but thats one thought i had tonight lol
another one was a MK themed Theme park,heaps of themed rides and such, where you would have the main area as earth realm then big gates that says 'Outworld' on it where there would be different themed rides,maybe one that goes under ground and you see reptile and co hiding there lol,and maybe in the middle can be a big MK arena were they host fights maybe like ufc or something,but themed! id pay to get in to a mk theme park for sure

...MK MMOs, those ideas have crossed here before. With the entwining of the storyline and our brains anything can happen but there will never come a day when such a game will exist due to the absence of a market. No one wants a Mortal Kombat MMO, they want WoW and crap. This is a game that would NOT sell, and when you concern over production price and the MK team's knowledge of gaming being limited to certain engines, it wouldn't happen. But gameplay-wise I see where you're going and of course I'd want to play it just as much as you...
...funny thing about the theme park idea, I still play Roller Coaster Tycoon from time to time (you remember that game?) and I base some of the parks with a pretty sweet MK theme. I always make a blue steel roller coaster with hard brakes for Sub-Zero and a powered launch one for Scorpion called Scorpion's Spear.

to be honest,i dont really want to see MK as a MMO i just had some wild thoughts to myself...still the theme park would be cool

It's npt really game engine knowledge that determines what game makers can make, it's what the game engine itself can produce. UT3 engine, which is primarily a shooting engine, is being used to make a fighting game, yet we're saying an MMO wouldn't be doable? It's doable, it just matters on two things:
The first one Krave already beat like a dead horse, profit. If they don't feel like it'll sell, they wont bother. But, I honestly think it WOULD sell, and quite decently at that. The main reason why WoW is so popular, is because of the huge fan base that WC has, and more so then that, Blizzard has. Granted, some faith was killed in MK fans with MK vs DC, but I still believe there'd be enough to get the ball rolling.
And honestly, I think an MMO would be something the MK team would love to do: they'd have something to constantly keep themselves busy and entertained during those dead hours of work, as well as it's something they can update every time Boon gets a crazy idea in his head. And don't tell me Vogel wouldn't mind the chance for a continuing, flowing story to work on. (Though I've never been one to care for what little stories an MMO has, I think I'd be a bit more caring of an MKMMO's story)
Plus, think of it like this: out of all the martial arts based MMO's out there, the majority of them ain't worth the time, and the few that are get boring after a few hours. If the MK Team could make, and keep up a fighting themed MMO, it'll drag in MMO lovers who've always wanted that change of pace and who've always wanted a good martial arts MMO.

...I think you've given a bit too much credit to the MK Krew, I've seen the work the WoW team goes through, and all the other MMOs out there, not to mention the budgets. Midway has the Krew in the position they'd like them to be in; a restricted budget, a high selling game. Risking the production costs of an MMO is never sure-fire.
MK has a fan-base. The decent selling MMOs out there have literally, massive fan-bases. MK can't keep up with that.
