...exited for the new MK movie? It doesn't look like anybody in here is discussing it anymore. Wel at least recently, I'm kinda new here but I know some stuff about the movie and thought I could shed some light.

I'm also more exited about MK8, it looks like information is about to be released soon and the MK movie has so little info. The name was supposed to be Mortal kombat Devastation, but I don't think there is an announced name for it. Most people call it MK3, which is wrong since it's not a sequel. The movie will draw the MK universe from the start to the end.

and it's said some 'mink' dude is directing it but I dunno if it's such a good idea, seeing what his past works are. I dunno, being in development hell for some time now I really hope they had enough time to put togheter a nice script. I hope they get proper actors and not cheesy ones like in Annihilation or MkConquest (although I liked the series)
I just really want this movie to be a proper done movie of epic scale with good story and actors. I would just be disappointed to hear lines like : "cool, heh? it's my animality!" or "it's my new look" for God's sake! Or when the time comes to introduce a character, say Scorpion don't make the actor say it 's SCORPION and then a dumdumdum in the backround!
I just want it properly done.

I agree a 100% there. The two movies by Mink aren't that appreciated really. But those are projects that are not written by Mink. He's a Director For Hire, as opposed to Creative Director. Basically, he adapts a script written by a company or by an individual. That was the case with the Seagal movie, it was written by Seagal. This is also the case with MK, the writers of Threshold are penning a script that will be done and handed to Mink.. So maybe this will be a project that will work for Mink, if it gets made that is. MK has huge potential to break into film. There's no other fighting series that is so rich in story and mythology,

can you imagine a MK movie witha decent budget and great martial talented cast and a capable directer that sticks true to the MK franchise would be like,flawless victory

The DOA movie wasn't that bad... it stuck to the bare basics of the second/third games was mostly casted well (Hated Kasumi's actress), and the fights were pretty damn good. A big thing about it that sucked was the lack of Lei Fang, but other then that I wasn't too disappointed with it.

I guess no one is. Don't think anyone should be either. It's a big chance that it might not even happen. The 1st movie came out during the peak of the games' popularity. It's probably safest to say the movie will happen when or if the MK games will be able to refresh and renew the popularity they had. Also it's best to film it when they start producing the original MK again, with the stories and such. The MK vs DC thing won't be movie material nor will it properly market an "MK only" film, but then again it could. Now at the moment it looks like they're stuck in the development hell and can't get out.

I never said I wasn't. I am looking forward to it myself. If this movie can be done right, considering the time line of events it should be following, it'll be a great movie.

Sorry about that, shouldn't have wrote "no one". But thinking about it, MK vs DC could actually boost this up and market an MK film. I hope it does. MK deserves to have an awesome movie, so much potential. However it does sound like the director(Mink) is actally exited about this. He posts at IMDb at this profile board. Pretty cool that he talks to fans. That's a good premise I guess.
