This topic is serious as cancer if you are a fucking gamer!
...and an Australian convict... err... citizen.
So what is this about?
For the non Aussies: As you may know, Australia does not include an R18+ rating in their current classification guidelines. This means that fine titles, such as Left 4 Dead 2, the new AvP, and countless other gems either get a refused classification rating, because they can not rate it as R18+ (which translates to an effective 'ban'), or the game has to be gimped to meet the M15+ rating.
This is an incredibly frustrating situation here, and shit like this must be stopped. Without delving too deeply into politics, the reason why we STILL don't have an R18+ rating is because a single Attorney General in South Australia, Michael Atkinson, has vetoed any moves of bringing game classification guidelines in line with other media (such as movies).
All the other Attorney Generals (in the rest of the states) have welcomed R18+ rating on games, but in order to pass a legislation, every Attorney Generals in the country must be in agreement. But because Michael Atkinson is being an arse, and a fucking religious nut job, he is pretty much dead set in preventing games getting an R18+ rating.
Anyway, enough bullshitting, and let's get to the point. Recently the Australian government has released a survey to find out what is the public's view on R18+ games. You can download the survey here:

If you give a shit about censorship and feel like expressing your displeasure about the lack of R18+ games, get involved in the survey ASAP. Spread it around to your friends, family, cousins, whatever.
The survey is actually pretty stupid, and half arsed, but do it anyway.

Even if they could import the uncut versions, surely it would be a lot easier for all involved if they could simply buy it in local game stores.

In case anyone hasn't heard, BIG UPDATE!!!!
The Aliens vs. Predator set for release in 2010 has been awarded classification by the Australian Classification review Board. the game has been deemed acceptable for a M15 rating, while being uncensored like the American version.

That's beside the point... if there are no provisions for r18+ games, then we'll have to put up with this "refused classification" nonsensical bullshit all the time. This situation got old, like back in 1996.
