Hard to compare image wise. Its kind of apples and oranges. I mean the classics are the originals and alot of stuff was faked (baraka's teeth being painted nails, kanos face being a plastic mask, etc) cause thats all they could do at the time. The new stuff they can really create whatever they want since its a 3d model. Technology has allowed alot more detail to be shown as well.
Playability wise I favor the classics by far. I wouldnt mind seeing a 2d/3d hybrid where the models and stages are 3d but you fight on a 3d plane, like street fighter 4 and they return to their roots. I dont care much for being able to circle each other or the other 3D advantages. I dont know what it is about the 3D games combat that i dont like but when i play it, it just doesnt feel the same (might be the way 3D hit detection works). When i pick up the 3d ones, it all comes back to me.

Nothing is as good as the clasics unless MK9 can step it up. I just hope they go with the digitized fighters again thats why they old ones were better ,i think they are going too aswell. Cant wait till they piss off the blocky 3d teken style fighters

classic all the way and i cant just pics but playable is shang tsung, but i always like to play as sindel in mk3 when she floats
