Post subject: Update! Reptile WIP costume |

Yo! Ok so Im currently putting together a Reptile and Ermac costume for this year's anime expo in which 3 of my buddies and I will attend in full MK glory.
The hardest part of these costumes to make are the masks and shin guards. They need to fit perfectly and look good on any face. Ive seen some costumes with outrageously huge face masks and I definitely didnt want to go in that direction.
Making these was like a silly dream come true. Well, not that silly since I love MK to bits.
Anywho, I thought Id share with you guys my work in progress. These are pics focusing on the reptile mask. Ive just finished it and I think Im happy with it. Its constructed out of cardboard and foam sheets. 
Enjoy.
*The design sketch i made first. I wanted something that paid "some" homage to the movie mask yet maintain that MK Trilogy look*
*Here we start off with the cardboard understructure. The open gaps helps with the breathing grill later on*
*Here, I begin to apply the foam sheets to solidify the structure*
*Now we have 95% of the mask covered in foamies. The mask is beginning to feel sturdy now*
*And just for fun, I thought Id go ahead and test shoot the mask realizing perhaps a Noob Saibot costume is in store for the future.  *
*I finally begin to carefully add the green pattern according to the original design.*

*The final product (may still be touched up a bit later) test shot*

Whoa...seriously, that's the best damn design I've seen period (custom or retail). The hybrid face mask is probably the most praise-worthy feature, commit to it...
...seriously, great work man.
Oh, and post other personal projects if you've got any, it's always nice to see things like these...and to see true fans.

I see the games now but only when they were pointed out. That mask is really good, I think the Scorpion one looks almost identicle to his MK4/MKDeception alt costume mask. Nice work man.

Hey thanks a lot guys!
I'll post more pics with the completed suit soon. The green tunic you see in the pic with the finished mask is actually my Scorpion tunic I photoshopped green. I'm going to start on that this week.
Hehe, oh yes, my MK video games. Those will never get old for me.
So far, I own :MK Trilogy for PS1, MK:DA , MK Deception premium with MK1, MK A both regular and premium thanks to TMK and his awesome contest, MK Shaolin Monks, Midway Arcade Treasures which as MK:2 and MK:3, MK:4 you see in the pic with MK:2 for snes and a MK1 plug and play controller.
So far my MK game fix is satisfied. hahaha. Ahhhh...MK <3

Holy excellent job on that Reptile Mask you sure know how to make them dead on accurate. And yeah great looking snes collection you got there and n64 hehe Mk4 for n64, and Mortal kombat 2 for snes are defitnely awesome games.

Hey man, get that tunic design up here, I'm real curious to see how you pulled that off...you gonna do it a different design for Reptile compared to Scorpion? Sounds like an awesome way to go about doing it...

Thanks guys
Yeah I definitely wanted to make each tunic have its own unique patterns.
I'll post pics when its done!
And about the acid spit, I can actually pull it off with one very small hose with an air squeezer filled with water or non corrosive acid hahaha no such thing, but I wouldnt try on people unless I wanted an ass kicking in return.
For the Smoke costume however, that hose and squeezer will come in handy with some safe talc and use the gimmick to make it look like its smoke coming out of the mask's vents. ****coming soon****
I plan to make all the stealth suits when time ever permits it.
Im currently drawing something for the TMK Fan page. Nice and gorey!

I know creating these ninja costumes will take you very long time. But is there any chance that when all these costumes are done, you´d also create some non-ninja costumes?

Actually, Im not sure bro. I think if anything, I may do a Raiden as far as non ninja costumes goes. I had planned to create different styles of masks for each stealth fighter if anything. It all depends if I have time in between my career as well as if im lucky to find the right materials to put out a badass Baraka or something.
Oh and I was really looking forward to making a killer Cyrax cosplay. But I will have to wait and see.
