dun use media player

Ahem...OSX is CLOSED SOURCE Unix. That's like buying a fully restored '68 Camaro and saying "Yeah, I built this up and know all about it." Macs are like those shiny new toys that you give to five-year olds. They're fun for about 20 minutes, then you move on to your next toy. We laugh at the one guy at work who pushes Mac all of the time. "Hey man, why the hell weren't you at the meeting today? The CEO was pissed! Oh yeah, we forgot that Entourage doesn't support half of Exchange's functions. Well, we're going to go play Counter-Strike. See ya!"
You know you can run most, if not all, Windows games on Linux, right? No, I guess you didn't. If Microsoft is really that bad, how about trying Lindows and WINE at some point? Then, even though you're just "fighting the system", you won't be a hypocrite.

Do you realise your last posts also make you a hypocrite? You seem to trash Mac and OS X without giving much thought into the matter either. And the reasons you've given me is also quite flawed.
For instance, what is wrong with "closed-source" operating systems, such as Unix or OS X? Microsoft, the company you're so protective about, also deals with closed-source projects for the most part.
And while we're discussing closed-source software, please don't head into the direction of "all software should be free" Communist rubbish. (Not saying you are, but that's what it looks like.) Open source apps are great and I'm totally for the idea, but I don't dismiss closed-source software completely either. One should have the right to protect their intellectual property and profit from it, if they wished.
I've come across heaps of people giving me all sorts of arguments, both for and against every particular operating system in existence. And you know what? They all overlooked ONE critical point: Choose the right OS that best fits your particular purpose and needs. An OS is not a mascot for your little fan club, an OS is a tool - and that is all there is to it really.
OS X is indeed closed source, but it happens to be one of the most polished operating systems out there, both from the user interface point of view and from a developer's perspective. This is coming from someone who has seen both worlds of just about every well known OS out there.
Having said that, I still use XP because of games, and it's my confort zone. I've got most of my tools running on there. I'm not a big fan of MS in general, but they do have their moments. I'm not a fan of their policies in many areas, but you don't have to be a fan boy to use their products.
...which comes to my next point. Re. games on Linux, I do realise there are heaps of SDL ports for that platform, but most of those are only classic titles. Considering about 80% ~ 90% of modern games are Direct3D based, proper ports to Linux are quite slow in progress. And WINE, as far as cutting edge Windows games are concerned, is as useful as tits on a bull. Having said that, I'm not knocking WINE here, it's great for general purpose Win32 stuff, but that's about it really. I wish more games were OpenGL based.
And to answer why IE is pants, here is why:
Internet Explorer 6 and to a lesser extent, version 7, is riddled with rendering bugs and makes W3C compliant web development a real pain in the arse. IE6 doesn't even support some of the most basic features listed the CSS 2.1 specification. And what's really sad is IE7 *still* retains some of the annoying rendering bugs seen in IE6. To me, IE7 is just a crappy patch-up job, with no real intention of making the browser fully standards functional.
The other problem is IE's significant browser dominance, which means developers can't just ignore IE. They have to waste precious time for devising hacks to make things work for IE. Then you have lazy developers who completely disregard standards and just make things work only for IE. They're not doing themselves nor the industry any favour, because they (and their peers around them) become dependent on IE.
Basically, IE hinders progress and makes web development really convoluted. IE is pants.
Anyway, one of the funny things about online communication is that people tend to grossly underestime others and quick to make personal attacts, especially if one of the parties involved pretends to be a total retard for his own self gratification.  I've been pulling your leg here, SubZero, so don't mind me.

That's....actually kind of sad, dude. You've made me lose all interest in actually forming a response to your arguements (which I actually started doing), and it just seems to me like you just need to get out of the house and interact with a live person once in a while.
