Holy shit! Its gonna have Puzzle Kombat in it!?!? Oh IM SOOOOO getting this!
I love the way they utilized the second screen!!! This will be my first pocket game system. Mortal Kombat did it again.

looks good on the ds, its awesome how good the pockeds are now, when you know umk on sega mega drive or on the snes...
...its fantastic what technology can do.

Didn't imagine I'd buy the DS for one game...I must be trippin'. It's definitely 'cause of the dual screen system. I doubt it will use any touch screen actions.

The problem is though, they're missing characters from the original version of UMK3, like Rain!  The game just isn't the same without him.

Hmmm, I missed that detail. I wonder if he's an unlockable. Would be cool but also odd. I never really used the guy before but Im glad Ermac is in it!

Even though they're trying to originate the game to its classic arcade style I'm sure they'll put in Rain from the console versions. Rain and Noob Saibot were never in the select screen, they're unlockables, so we haven't seen any proof either way.
I'm sure Rain's in it. Or I hope Rain's in it.
I'm curious about puzzle kombat though, will later characters like Bo' Rai Cho still be in it? Maybe they'll have other classic characters to replace them. Meh, I hope they update it somehow.

Rain wasn't a playable character in the original version of UMK3. He was added for the 16 bit versions.

It doesn't really look like they have any set character rosters yet since they are just slapping arcade stills and 16 bit UMK3 videos over images of the DS for these previews. It looks like the entire video is SNES until towards the end where you see Jax vs Reptile from Genesis.

I kinda doubt they would. Boon was talking specifically about UMK3. Maybe if this is successful they'll do more though.

For those that haven't heard. IGN got their hands on a development copy of UMK DS and got to try the game out:

Initial impressions sound great. And they also have a new video up. From what they say in their descriptions, the video definately could be real gameplay this time!
