I like it. simple, clean, and reminiscent of the UMK3 packaging.
one question though: do you have any release date information? I went to pre-order and neither Amazon nor EB Games had it available yet. _________________ Nikki: your friendly neighborhood moderator. ^_^

It looks like the game might be pretty far from completion. We'll probably see a date once we see some footage the game itself. _________________ UltimateMK.com - The ULTIMATE Source of Kompetitive Mortal Kombat Information

Thanks guys, no release date yet Chibi
ssub-zero: I really like that watermark...dunno why...I did make a new one, but I dun like it.
DreemerNJ: I respect you as a fan, but comon man...that Isn't the SNES version...It's insane to say that... If Midway are going to use any footage to sell the game, they are going to use either the a. actual UMK:DS footage, or b. Arcade footage from the game. Now I know it looks pretty much identical to the SNES version...but there is just no way that it is actually that footage man...no way...Midway wouldn't bother digging up SNES footage from Acclaim (who are now non existant and out of business btw) Other than the fact that the sprites look the same, what makes you think It's the SNES version...cause Rain is in the video?

I like the black and white skulls compared to the purple-toned ones. It fits the DS cover and honestly just looks more cool. It is scheduled to be released in November, and since it is a port it should actually make it on time.

Along with the images nothing shows signs of alternate versions... _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

It is UMk3 for SNES. If you look at it you can see. In the side by side comparison the graphics are identical. If you scale down SNES to that quality you see that the energy bars, round counters, timer, characters, everything is 100% identical. If you watch as they play it is not particularly smooth. You can even see the jumpy movement of the opponent when they are captured by Rain's projectile, something unique to the 16 bit versions since he moved smooth in the MKT's.
And then there is the fact that they also show Genesis UMK3. I don't think you ever responded about how this could be real footage of UMK:DS if they are showing 2 distinctly different versions of the game in the video. Do you believe they made 2 versions for DS? Maybe they put 2 teams on it to see who would do better! lol
If you really look at it, you have to see that this is SNES except for the 1 clip from Genesis.
And I guess you really don't remember that they advertised MK3 on MAT2 using MKT for PSX footage. It's how they roll. It's just the way they operate. They could have shown all arcade footage for that because they were literally emulating the arcade, and they did use mostly arcade footage, but, just for the heck of it, they included footage for MKT for PSX. I don't know why they do it, they haven't answered me yet
Do you honestly think they would put out an MK for DS that looks as bad as the video in this trailer? The DS has power similar to the N64, why produce a game 100% equal in quality to SNES?
Maybe the PR team that threw this thing together in an afternoon didn't realize the difference between a DS and a GBA. But, the average MK fan definately can tell the similarity between this video and UMK3 for SNES and Genesis. Even the typically vapid crowd on GameFAQs realized it immediately, even pointing out the 1 Genesis clip since that makes the whole thing even funnier.
We've been toying with the idea of taking a pic of a DS and superimposing our own footage of UMK3 for SNES on it just like they did for this. It'll be pretty funny.
And there is also the fact that still images are of the arcade, and this video is of SNES and Genesis. You can clearly see that the image sent out on the press release is UMK3 for the Arcade (Sub Zero fighting Scorpion on Jade's Desert) and that the video looks completely different. They did it this way because they don't have a game to show. If they did, they would show nothing but images of that game. _________________ UltimateMK.com - The ULTIMATE Source of Kompetitive Mortal Kombat Information

Midway's response to my question about this being Genesis and SNES footage and this was there response:
| Quote: | | This trailer is simply to demonstrate what it will be like playing the game on DS to accompany it's announcement. As the game is developed, more footage and information will be released. |

...could've figured. I'm not sure them recreating the exact Arcade version is the best choice though, considering the console versions are the most updated with the most features, unless I'm mistaken. Not to mention no Rain. _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

Arcade is the best way to go if they are going to do UMK3 because there was never a good console version of it. Every version was heavily flawed in at least some way. _________________ UltimateMK.com - The ULTIMATE Source of Kompetitive Mortal Kombat Information

I trust that, you'd know more than me. I still wouldn't mind them adding Rain to the mix. Actually it sounds better, them going to base it entirely on the original. It's better this way rather than just another flawed port. _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

Rain and Noob were added to the home versions...the Arcade versions didn't have them as playable characters. This version of UMK3 is a direct port from the Arcade version.
