Not as good man but 100 times better.
Trust me watch the whole series, then Death and Rebirth, then The end of evangelion and then 1.0
(Couple of pointers to save you confusion: The last 2 episodes of the series were why the movies were made. The movies replace them but watch em anyway. The last part of "Death and Rebirth" and the first part of "The end of Evangelion are the same." )
