|
| |
Something crossed my mind whilst I played Mortal Kombat:Shaolin Monks today. When you fight Ermac and bring his health down about halfway, he places a soul inside the statue of Johnny Cage to assist him in the battle. When he gets crushed by the rock at the end, there's no sign of the statue.
Do you suspect the statue became lifeless again without Ermac there to keep it possessed or mobile? Do you think it ran off to make its own movie about being forced to stand still for gods know how long until finally granted the ability to move, or what life is like as marble and stone? Perhaps he went on to make the motion picture: The Lord of the Rocks - The Return of the Cage.
What do you think? _________________

...huh?
I was assuming the statue crumbled or disappeared like most villains do while the camera wasn't focused on it.
And wouldn't this be better in the Shaolin Monks section? _________________ Very Angry Girls Instigate Negative Attitudes.

I was thinking about making it in there, but I figured I'd throw it in here since someone might suggest he's somewhere in the other games or something. It's more so a general MK discussion about the Cage statue, not so much about the game Shaolin Monks, hence why I put it in here.
I thought they would've maybe shown the second rock breaking the statue or something during the cinematic when Ermac dies, but I guess not. Perhaps he ran off? _________________

...well of course Johnny Cage is evil.[/sarcasm]
I'm sure they put that statue just for the enjoyment of the player, and they never thought some random player would over-think it, never. _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

That's not the point, we're discussing it because we can. So |{rave, what do you think happened to the Johnny Cage statue after Ermac "died"? _________________

Couldn't be, we saw Ermac bring it to life before our very eyes. Plus, Shang Tsung was probably still in Outworld. _________________

Nope, we see Johnny Cage survive it (as Liu Kang kicks Reptile away, saving his life). We also know Shang Tsung escaped to Outworld while leaving the Earthrealm warriors on the island to die, Cage being one of them. They all lived to make it back to the Wu Shi Academy.
Cage survives the entire ordeal of MK2 (MK:SM), only to be killed by an extermination squad in MK3 when Shao Kahn invades Earthrealm. His soul's path to the heavens is blocked by the merger of Outworld and Earthrealm, so he is able to help fight along side his friends. In MK4/MKG, Raiden revives Cage to help fight Shinnok. Cage, along with Sonya, Jax, Kitana and the crew were reserrected by Onaga after Raiden's failed attempt at blowing him up. After Onaga's defeat, Cage is alive and free once again.
So Shin, that's that, which means the statue of Cage is unique and not Shang Tsung or Cage's soul. _________________

It was just a rock statue that either became inanimate after Ermac's defeat, or crushed. Obviously throughout the later games we never saw him.
There's also the possibility it never happened considering it wouldn't be the only thing that occurred in SM to not be canon. _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

Well, Shaolin Monks is its own, seperate universe from the main games, since it diverts from so much established canon. Would be funny if he showed up somewhere else though. _________________

Eh, I doubt it. Maybe in Koncept art.
