Okay, I've got a couple things to add. As much as Shaolin Monks strayed away from the established canon of the mainstream games, I'd argue that the look of Shang Tsung in it is not one of these cases. He does take on his MK2 look, he just held his old one in the beginning of MK:SM because it took place during, and just after, MK1.
Next up, facts regaring Ermac (a bit off topic, I know, but something that needs to be correctd).
| l{ombat_l{rave wrote: | | And as a side note, Ermac was not created by Kahn. "...he exists as a life force brought together by the souls of extinguished Outworld warriors." That's from his UMK3 biography. It also says that somehow Kahn is able to control these souls on his side of tyranny. |
This was retconned in MK: Deception when it said:
| Ermac's Biography wrote: | | We are Ermac. We are the fusion of the souls of dead warriors, created by Shao Kahn to obey him without question. We served as his enforcer for many years, until the Earthrealm warrior Kenshi released us from our bondage and awakened our perception of the worlds that surround us. We are now free to choose our own destiny. |
This actually makes a lot more sense than the dead souls of Outworld warriors just coming together by themselves, which still isn't necessarily the case in his UMK3 bio, so that bio is still technically true, as "Shao Kahn has managed to take possession of these souls and use them to fight on the side of tyranny". At the time, it just didn't add in the bio that it was Shao Kahn who initially merged them.
Later on, Kenshi is able to break Shao Kahn's hold over him and allow him to contorl his own destiny. In return, Ermac teaches him how to use telekenetic powers. _________________

...yes, Kenshi decided to fight alongside Liu Kang to fight the Dragon King, and Ermac followed. (I never liked how they switched him to good.)
But Frog Man, you really buy that whole 'retconning' of latter biographies? I just assumed they made a mistake and I went with the original storyline. _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

I believe that if a newer game says something different then a previous game, then I should use the information from the newer game.
It may be a mistake, but for all we know they could have purposely done that.
Of course though, if the MK team came out and officialy stated that they made a booboo, then that overwrites what was said in the newer game. _________________ Very Angry Girls Instigate Negative Attitudes.

He does in his Armageddon ending:
| Wikipedia wrote: | | In Kenshi's Mortal Kombat: Armageddon ending, he defeats Blaze, allowing him to regain his sight while his other senses are greatly increased. Unable to endure this new sensory overload, Kenshi withdraws to a remote mountain cavern when he would remain isolated in a darkened, soundless chamber. |
He probably won't ever get them back though. Kenshi's already used to not having them. I don't think he even misses them. _________________ Very Angry Girls Instigate Negative Attitudes.

read the mk8 news page, it states that around 80% of the original cast will be killed off, so there is an 80% chance he wont be around anyway...
but that 20% is pretty weak, considering that he's become a recluse, aparantly

...also, most Armageddon endings are false, so there's no say in his being canon or not. _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

...because Ed Boon was interviewed once, and he said the 'monarch' in his ending will most likely be a new character on its own. _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."
