tough one. i personally would break it up into a couple of category's

graphics - obviously this goes to the newer ones.
features - again, the obvious winner is the next gen games.
characters - well dur, we can never have enough people, so this goes to the new games.
game play - the newer ones are to technical for me, so the classics.
sound - i love when you do the uppercuts on the originals, so point 2 to the classics.

while this would suggest a 3-2 score, graphics don't make games better and the features were pritty lame(cept the krypt, but the account thing? that's just hella stupid)

so i guess my favourite would be the originals

I like the ´classic´ and the ´new´ ones equally.

While the older games have the ´classic feel´, the new games have more to offer (at least for me). Many fans are concerned about the new characters, but I reall like them. I love Ashrah and Li Mei and I´m also big fan of Kenshi, Mavado and Taven. I enjoy playing Konquest, Puzzle Kombat, not even mentioning Kreating my own fighter Wink

There are great and not-so-great titles among both old and new MK games. And I usually find myself playing newer MK games more often.

Btw. rather than classifying games as classic/modern, I prefer to classify them as good or bad games. And all MK games (I´ve played) are definitely in the ´good games´ category, even the not-so-great ones (cough, MK4, cough) Very Happy

And so in the end, I´d like to say that whatever MK game I choose to play, I always end up having a good time Smile

2-D MK is WORLDS better than the new 3-D junk. Yeah, the new 3-D's have pretty graphics, custom characters, etc. But the gameplay are worlds apart. And lost more fun, especially for competetive play.

I'd rather play UMK3, MKT or MKII than ANY other 2-D or 3-D fighters

MK8 needs to go back to 2-D, go multi-platform online, and mass produce an arcade stick for eveyone to play on some sticks.
