Post subject: what makes creating "Ninja" characters so cool? |

I own MK:Armageddon, and my whole family creates characters and everyone makes "ninjas". My first character was some version of me. My second, a KungLao based fighter. My current, a sorcerer. My current is super cool and an awsome fighter, but my fam is all like "your guy sux". I don't dislike ninjas, they're cool,but there are way cool people who are not ninjas

I think this should be in the Armageddon board. Most likely because Scorpion gets so hyped up, people create ninja based characters to be like him.
The only ninja I have tried to make was Rin from Tenchu. I also had a pretty accurate version of Kenny's from south park's ninja character, although was disapointed I couldn't give it throwing stars. My other KAFs that I remember making are. (Don't know if I have them all anymore)

they have a Hollywood image as being kick ass guys, almost to super-human effect. kinda.
its hard to say really what makes them so 'cool' but im sure ill be able to find a history based answer.
a quick idea would be that its forced upon you, almost every modern piece of media features at least one ninja type character(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_in_popular_culture)
though, where that originated from i have no idea. it could be, that unlike other asian traditions, it applys to western life. once the idea is planted people will take advantage of the ideas.

Ninjas are coo, but I don't see the attraction, either. They all start to look similar after a while.

Am I the one who laughs at the irony of a Naruto fan asking why people love ninjas so much? Just wondering...
Anyways to the topic at hand: Ninjas are like pirates, their just there and bad ass. So long as people are hooked to the idea of stealth killing, insaine magickal powers, and high seas battles (well, for pirates at least) there will always be a famous group.
Not to mention, look back at MK1: the only two characters that had moves to allow a free hit were Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Also, the first hidden character, Reptile, was a ninja. Then in mk two with Jade smoke and siabot, the ninjas just got all the hype and power.

But stealth is among a true ninjas greatest weapons. So, we can asume that the ninjas of MK were also rather skilled in stealth. But, aside from that, even those who were 'ninjas' didnt end up being ninjas. the only real ninja, story wise, was Scorpion.
And again, if you just go back and look at past MK history, all the 'cool' characters were ninjas, and most people just want to be cool.

exacly! real 'ninjas' are supposed to have all black on all over the goddamn place with bearly any skin showing, not yellow! but no one applies that. they just put all kinds of colors, like red, blue, and gold(all on one 'ninja' kreate a kharacter kreated by one of my kousins). also when I was first introduced to MK, I thought that Lui Kang and Raiden were the koolest fighters, and to this day, they still are my all-time favorites.

Actually, real ninja's when on a mission, hardly ever whore ninja gear. WHen out on an assasination attempt, they'd wear disguises, such of that of a preist or farmer, to blend in and look harmless in order to get closer to their target.
But, let's get back to the topic, shall we?

exactly, when have you ever seen them where anything else? there not ninja's just clan members.

Noob Saibot looks like a common "ninja". I made Nightcrawler on one, but my main character is like Kung Lao (The hat) but SUPER fast.

LOL, I tried the same thing, but the Space Ninja helmet jut doesn't l;ook like any of their helmets.
Ninja Craig might be possible to make but I haven't tried it yet, he was the only one with a weapon you can use in KAF. Shame Sais aren't available, or the ability to make them fat or thin, Ninja Cartman would have been cool to be able to make. I thought Kenny would be ok to make because his weapon was only a Shuriken.
