I just found a Nintendo DS and I know just about everything there is to know about it except the whole WiFi thing. I figured I'd ask you guys because I trust you more than anyone else in the world and I know you all know everything under the sun.
So... is this WiFi thing a free service? I've tried to do it in a Free WiFi area and it doesn't connect. Does it work in a free WiFi service? I jusy want to get connected, from there I can figure it out.
Thanks in advance for you genius, loyal, friendly, hospitable (and sexy) TMK members. _________________

WiFi is a free service and it probably didn't connect because you weren't at a cloud9 wifi service or another Nintendo associated wifi service. I don't know what country you are from so I'll list all the free wifi servers for Nintendo DS.
Australia- Telstra Wireless and EB Games, Canada- Fatport, France- Meteror Networks, Germany- T-com, Greece- Forthnet, Italy- Linkhem, Holland- T-Mobile, Portugal- PT-WiFi, Spain- Telefonica Zondas ADSL, UK- The Cloud and BT Openzone (also for Rep Ireland), USA- Jiwire and Wayport.
You may also play WiFi from home if you buy the USB adapter.
Would you like a list of WiFi compatible games? _________________ Yippie Ki Yay

Thanks for all that info. I am, by no means, a hardcore DS player nor do I intend to be. But I would like to take full advantage of the few games I will get.
Thanks again for that. I'm clueless about WiFi outside of a laptop. _________________

WiFi on Wii and DS is free and built in the only thing you need to have is a service that you can connect to (like a wireless router in your house) or as someone mentioned, places like Mcdonalds and StarBucks have WiFi services you can use I think there is a fee involved. The USB adaptor is for if your computer is connected to broadband, but you don't have a wireless router you can by the adaptor that sends a wireless signal to your Wii / DS. I great way of avoiding to buy a router for just your DS / Wii consoles.
