If that's what you meant, the quote you posted doesn't even focus on the discussion of evolution. Again you just proved Mr. Sparkle's point that you deduce things out of context. |
yes, but what are you talking about? the only thing you mention is that, that evolution has given us the ability of concept, making us different to other animals. how is that not evolution? what is it supposed to mean?

The fact that evolution caused us to posses unique cognitive abilities goes without saying! But that was not Sparkle's point!
Sparkle was only highlighting the reason why human righs can not be applied in the same manner on animals. We are unique. We recognise and undestand suffering. We are also the only species that can consciously and totally annihilate each other in the cruelest manner possible. Other animals don't do that. Therefore, fundamental human rights only apply to people, which makes your "pet ownership an extension of slavery" argument wrong. That is all. _________________ I am disrespectful to dirt!

Actually animals understand suffering of each other Swan's can die from not eating and moving because they lose their mate.
Note on TKAMB: No he didn't work for the father he was a handyman that alway walked past the father's house and did work for the daughter because as he put it he "Felt sorry" which is the ultimate reason he gets sent to prison. _________________ Yippie Ki Yay

Gah, okay is this conversation for real?
Animals aren't civilised and Humans are. A human will think twice about killing you. But a wild dog won't.
Humans wipe their ass.
Animals lick their ass clean.

I don't have a pet, nor have I ever owned one, but I think that pets should not be called pets. also that keeping animals is like being in a relationship. Some animals should never be kept as pets. If they require a licence, then they probabaly are not too safe. This was most likely repeated, but I hate reading long stuff unless it is super important. animals are uncivilized because nature intinded them to be. animals do the same thing all the time, they evolve too but, they just repeat what comes naturally. They prtect their young, try not to get eaten, try to eat, and all that. ther is no time for them to develop things like civilizations. not that all animals are that smart. did this get off topic? sorry if it did. _________________ ggggggggggggg

Then what should we call them, by their name in the court of law? Our, property?
| Julienaruto wrote: | | also that keeping animals is like being in a relationship. |
Since when did I have to take a cat out to the movies, spend all kinds of money on fancy dinners, and buy my cat roses? All most cats need for them to love you is a bit of attention, and some food. Kind of like a video gamer.

That's why the liscence exists, so for those whom are TRAINED and ABLE to handle them, may do so.

I take it you dont read too many books then?
| Julienaruto wrote: | | animals are uncivilized because nature intinded them to be. |
Really? I thought it was just because they have yet to reach their evolutionary peak yet. (Seriously)

You know, a lot of animals EAT their young as well. And not all protect; often times with some animals, once their born, or are left to be hatched, their on their own.
Civilization is in the eye of the beholder I suposse, because I always felt like, say a wolf pack was a rather intelligent and somewhat civilized thing. And many animals, birds for example, build their own homes, or nests. Is that not a civilization is small porportions? _________________

Not all animals are considered property, however. The police departments are required to furnish bulletproof vests for their canine partners, well, those amongst the K-9 unit. _________________ Highest Kreate-A-Fatality: 11 (Ultimate Fatality)

I understand what Julien means here, Vain. a relationship might not be the best of terms, but when you get an animal, there definitely is a bond created. your animal knows who you are, and even sometimes what makes you happy. why else would your dog get excited when you come home, or know when you're upset? true, you don't have to buy your animal's love by taking them out for dinner (we reserve that for our romantic relationships, thank you very much), and they don't expect that of you.
I always thought people who owned a pet understood the relationship (or bond, if you prefer) between owner and animal. =/
oh oh, and btw Vain, I'm a gamer, and I require a little more maintenance than the occasional scrap of food. I also like some sexual healin' once in a while. *ahem*
