what would you guys that played i think of it because i am thinking of buying a ds then buying the game i could really use some replys on this.

I think it all depends on how you're going to be playing this game.
like, do you already have Deception? then you already have Puzzle Kombat, so unless you're going to be going anywhere, I don't see much use in making the purchase... unless you're like my husband and like to play something while you're dropping the deuce.
you'd probably be spending either the same amount or less on Midway Arcade Treasures, which has either MK3 or Ultimate MK3 and MK2 on it.
if you're just in it for the copy of UMK3, then I'd say you'd be better off going to your local video gaming store, finding a used copy of Midway Arcade Treasures, and plunking down the $5 for it.

And if ya cant find the Arcade treasures that has it, just get the premium edition of MKA, its got the arcade perfect version on it.

Of course, that's saying you have a PS2, SmokeII. If you have an XBOX 360, buy some microsoft points, then go to the Live Arcade and go to the Coin Op classics. UMK 3 is there for the playing.

Arcade Treasures doesn't have UMK3. The MKA version of UMK3 has too much slowdown. Neither have netplay, and that's the real value.
I say get it since you are getting the best quality gameplay out of all the MK games and you are getting it with netplay.
10 player top tier, all but a few characters useable in high level play, and netplay. It's a great setup.
UMK3 for 360 is amazing since it plays right and has netplay. There's no point in playing 1 player MK games. Aside from things like conquest mode, it's just not worth bothering with if it's 1 player. Netplay is a must.

dont you have to pay a monthly fee for netplay?
if you use silver then upgrading just for mk netplay is kinda expensive dont you think?

I would say get it...I have a good eye for detail when it comes to UMK3 (as I own the arcade machine) and this version is very impressive all the timing and speeds on the characters look perfecly intact...I have only seen an audio glitch so far, thats the only thing I have seen that I'm sure will be fixed in the final version. Oh, if you want to know what the glitch is, in the latest set of videos I saw everytime it said "Round 2" the 2 seemed to cut off making it hard to understand...it sounds more like "round t....fight!" I reckon they will fix this tho, and even if they don't that has no effect on the gameplay. TMK will be gicing away copies of UMK:DS too...so you might be able to win a copy! More details on that soon

Well, you don't really have to have a Gold Membership to play UMK 3. I've got a silver membership and I could still download the original version. I don't have the required points, which is 800, for the full version. That's all that's required for UMK 3 from the XBOX Live Arcade.

Yeah you need to buy a xbox live 12 months +1 free month gold card which cost me 68.36. But if you look at it the price is good cause it lasts you a whole year and an extra month so when that time rolls around again you always have enough to renew it by getting another card.

yeh, no doubt. but unless your a hardcore on-line person, then it looses its appeal quickly. it would be better if it were free, imo we pay enough for the game we shouldn't be taxed to play a part of it regually.

Whoever said to get MKA deserves to be kicked; that is the most horribly programmed game of all time. Remember when it got a 0.0 in GamePro back in like March 2002?
I plan to get UMK3 for the DS; it looks pretty much perfect, plus the online play will be a blast. I just might have to break out the Sega Saturn and play some UMK3 later
