...is what Sparkle would buy from a vending machine if he were to visit Japan.
Who's been to Tokyo and stuff? And good pick-up joints Sparlke should be aware of? _________________ I am disrespectful to dirt!

I live in Okinawa, which is technically a part of Japan, but don't tell Okinawans that. X_x
I've been to one of the larger adult stores in the area, and they actually sell used panties by the bag-full. and pantyhose. but mostly used panties. (the ones I've seen usually include a Polaroid of the lovely lady that was once wearing them.) and you can also get a nice "love cup" if you're so inclined. I'll leave you to mull that one over.
as for pick-up joints, I'm assuming you mean fast food?
my husband and I are suckers for CoCo Ichibanya, which is a curryhouse that is quite possibly just as popular here as McDonalds is everywhere else. we actually took a few pictures from CoCo's the other day. here's what we get:
chicken cutlet curry with nan bread. delicious. don't eat the pickled veggies (look to the right of the picture). not so great. X_x
another good spot for Japanese fast food is called Yoshinoya. they serve beef and pork bowls. it's basically rice with meat on top. the pork bowl is actually pretty good. =)
there are McDonalds here, but don't expect it to be the same as American McDonalds.
McDonalds delights here include such delicacies as the Ebi Filet O:
also known as "shrimp sandwich". blech. also, portions are much, MUCH smaller. chicken nuggets and regular fries are more like American sized Happy Meals. no wonder the Japanese population only has a 3% obesity rate.
so yeah. I'm done rambling. back to the topic at hand: used panties and other things found in Japanese vending machines. _________________ Nikki: your friendly neighborhood moderator. ^_^

Fast meal yes, but Sparkle did not technically mean food. More like nightlife, girls, events and stuff. (Word on the street is that Japanes chicks are easy for the average white boy.) Sparkle is into electronic music, ranging from tech to glitch, IDM, EBM and experimental, would be nice to see what Japan offers those categories.
As for actual food, Jap dishes definitely one the things Sparkle would love to try, and not necessarily fast food either. Not a fan of Maccas, but the burger you posted doesn't look half as bad.
Is living/travel/holiday expensive there? Would it be hard to get around for someone who knows absolutely 0 about the language? _________________ I am disrespectful to dirt!

I don't know about the mainland, but around here on Okinawa, the bar scene is pretty big. there's an entire street close to Kadena Air Base that's pretty much dedicated to bars and clubs that everyone calls Gate Two Street. karaoke bars are also a pretty popular thing from what I hear, but ya know. that might not be your bag.
I'm not big on that kinda thing myself, seeing as I enjoy things more along the lines of an arcade and getting crepes at JusCo, but most Americans here enjoy it.
as for the girls here? they're tiny, and mostly unattractive, to be honest. terrible sense of fashion for the most part, no curves to define them as women, and teeth that look like they're throwing gang signs at each other. the world's interpretation of the Japanese woman isn't even close to what the majority look like. there are a handful though, that I've seen, that I would totally take home to play strip Mortal Kombat with. ^_^ several people that my husband works with have married Japanese women, so hey. maybe your chances are pretty good, ne?
not sure how expensive things are for traveling, as I live here on a military base, but you could probably stay in an inexpensive Japanese style hotel for pretty cheap. just do your research before you decide on something.
I've been living here for a little over two years, and while I do know some of the language, I don't know much. a lot of times though, people around here do know some English, so you may only need to know one thing in Japanese: "Eigo dekimasu ka?", which means, "Do you speak English?"
usually, their answer is yes. =) if not, you might be surprised to find just how good your hand signals transfer into understanding. grunting and pointing at McDonalds may make you sound like a caveman, but at least you get your food, right? ^_^; _________________ Nikki: your friendly neighborhood moderator. ^_^

I've been wanting to travel to Japan for ages; Nikki, hook me up with some place to stay, lol.
Seriously though, I badly want to travel, Greece, Japan, Canada, Australia. (And for those who know where I live; I know, all I have to do is just north to visit Canada, but still I want to visit, hence why I list)
Nikki, you got any reccomendations as places to visit? _________________

if Marcus gets home from this stupid meeting soon, then we're hoping to check out a few of the more scenic locations on the island.
Shuri Castle is definitely on the list. I don't know much about it, but I was looking in Okinawa Livng (a publication put out by the Marine Corps), and the pictures are absolutely breathtaking.
we also want to visit Ie Island before we leave Okinawa. it's a small island (a circumference of only 24.4 km) off of the main island of Okinawa, and is a popular vacation spot for its white sand beaches. (it's hard to find a good beach on Okinawa, because so much of it is littered with rocks and reef).
there are so many things to do here, that cater to different interests. things from boat races to the Orion Beer Festival to tours to visit a pottery village. Okinawa is a gorgeous place, seriously. you guys should come for a visit. ^_^ _________________ Nikki: your friendly neighborhood moderator. ^_^
