lol, great debate there.

why not try taking it a little further with giving reasons why you don't agree with his opinion?

as for me, I enjoy the 3-D games more than their older, 2-D counterparts. gameplay is much smoother and the story is fleshed out better in my opinion. not to mention, it's easier for me to pull off combos and whatnot. =)

how about you two try stop accusing each other and leave the policing to me?

it IS my job, after all.

and p.s., if you guys wanna make koins easier, deposit them into your bank once you're done posting for your session. they'll gain 10% interest per day, and before you know it... BAM! you've got like, 80 million koins.

Now now, should we fight on a Mortal Kombat message board? Wink

Back to the topic...it varies.

I really like the way Ermac looks now.
I also like Reptile's "devolved" look.

I'm all right with the others.

I'm definitely sticking with those who like the 3-D characters. It is mostly due to the flow of combat in the games and the ease of doing combos. The idea of characters switching fighting styles and adding in deadly weapon combat makes 3-D characters by far better than their 2-D guys. To be honest, though, when MK 4 was 3-D, I had my doubts because the graphics weren't the greatest and the weapons were a little cheesy. The only thing that really caught my eye when MK 4 came out was Scorpion's Sting Fatality. I only hope that this next generation of gaming has some kickass features. Better graphics, fighting styles, weapons, and of course fatalities. Can't beat demolishing your opponent.

I like them both but for different reasons, I think that the games should have the option to either play on a 2D or 3D format

Could you define classic?

If you mean anything pre UMK3 then I would say the classic characters are better, though some of them do suck balls.......(Jax)

I'm not sure what is meant by classic, so I'll do my best...

First and foremost, every fighting game series has that default set of characters that always reappear and will never be forgotten. I'll try to see if I can sum up the set for Mortal Kombat:

Liu Kang
Sonya
Jax
Raiden
Scorpion
Sub-Zero
Shang Tsung
Kitana
Goro
Shao Kahn

I think that's right. Anyhoo, with Mortal Kombat's set, it seems these characters are starting to bore out. To me, they are losing their greatness as MK characters, as their stories are becoming more and more stale.

I myself am a fan of Mortal Kombat because of its interesting (though quite faulty) storyline, and hence I prefer thoe characters who thrive deep within it and not just on the surface, such as Bo' Rai Cho, Tanya, Quan Chi, and Sindel.

Three of these four characters came about after the first generation of Mortal Kombat games, so I guess I'm nay for the classic characters, except Baraka, if he counts as one.

Well said, Riyakou. But i based on my own personal experiences with the franchise i'd have to say that I like the 2-D versions alot better, I feel the gameplay is faster and the nostalgia takes place making it my preferred choice.

For me its by far the older kharacters.
In the old games I liked every kharacter. They all have a place in my heart.
Kharacters were even born from rumours. Kharacters were so popular they had to be brought back to life even!

As far as the newer games most kharacters are kool. But they just lack a certain something. Maybe its the Nostalgia.
The new games introduced Kobra.....the most stereotypically named MK Kharacter in history that ripped off Kano's moves and looked like a certain Street Fighter character. A Street Fighter look alike in MK.......Seriously!!!!!! Angry

Enough said lol

All the best,
Razer Scorpion
