If the question is "which MK characters are classics, the noobies or the oldies?" then I don't really think you can add the gameplay into the mix. Personally I see the characters from the first two games as classics, and a few pick & mix characters from MK3. Why I see these as classics instead of others, I really don't know. Maybe it's just the characters that I grew up with in the arcades, or maybe it's just the characters that imediatly spring to mind when I hear the words Mortal and Kombat. There are a few characters in the later games that I simply love, yet I can't bring myself to refer to them as classics.

Well apparently i didn't read the question through.
I like the older characters more because of how they played in the games compared to the newer 3-D graphics, also my earlier experiences with the game were with the 2-D obviously, so naturally i prefer it more. (better Deathrider?)

Dunno man any kharacter that is from MK1 up to MK4 is considered Klassic in my mind. Deadly Alliance was the beggining of the "New Breed" for me although I don't really play MK4/Gold alot.

Yes. I include 4 as classic because it was just a starting idea, and the characters were polygons. It's an exception.

I don't know, I can't imagine the likes of Tanya ever achieving classic status. The only original character from MK that deserves to be regarded as a classic MK fighter is Shinnok. But then again, as I've already mentioned, I'm very picky with who I call a classic.
