I’ve been told by many people he’s a good guy, others say he’s a bad guys. Some just say he not on a side at all. It appears to me that he’s not on a side at all but I’m not to sure and was wondering if you guys knew the correct answer?

He's neutral which means he can be on any side he wants at any given time. Like it just means he's not all bad or all good he can be on the good side if he wants or he could be on the bad side if he wants but he just stays in the middle of both sides. _________________

Like Doug said he's neutral, he was corrupted by Quani Chi's lie about Sub-Zero killing his family and clan, so he killed Sub-Zero-bad guy. But once he learned the truth that Quan Chi actually did the kiiling, he tormented him until QC escaped the Netherrealm, good guy. He switches between the two to best suit his needs and pretty much stays neutral. _________________

i think that in the deep he is a good guy, but he wants to keep the renegade position, much like Vegeta fron DBZ, and his main conflict to the good side was becase his rivalry with th allmighty sub-zero, but since he learned the truth, i dont find a reason to their rivalry. _________________

Originally, the way I saw it, Midway made Scorpion the good guy and Sub-Zero the bad guy. Even in the comic book scorpion says something like "I could kill you at this very moment, but I am not a murderer" while he was gripping the weakened Sub-Zero, demonstrating that Scorpion had some establishment with his destiny as a "good" anchor character in the MK series.
Anywho, Scorpion's alliance with "good" or "honor" was carried over into MK part 2 when yet again, he showed through his actions that he was something of a "good guy" when promising the protection of Sub-Zero's younger brother for killing apparently what he didnt know, was someone that had family which Im guessing, could have easily reminded Scorpion of his own tragedy as a human being. Basically, Scorpion was shocked to know Subby had family and felt bad.
In MK3, I pretty much shunned it for its lack of ninja looking Sub-Zero nor Scorpion. And everything else about that game was so different, it detached my interest to know anything more about it. (not to say it was a terrible game or anything. I just didnt care for it.)
In UMK3, Scorpion is back (without the use of codes) but his ending is gearing more towards him being pissed off rather than a leveled headed ninja looking to protect his honor and the young sub-zero. In this game, he seems more vengeful of anything and sort of just travels on its own vibe gearing him towards the "badass ninja" trait. Personally, I sorta felt confused why the sudden change but I'll explain that later.
In MK4, this is where I was like "huh?" lol. The new insertion of Quan Chi and Shinnok changed or morphed around not just the story line, but the entire feel of the game in this 3-D installment. It sort of remembers its roots but does feel more like a restart of the game's story line rather than a complete continuation of the last title before it. The movie at the end (Scorpions) shows that he was tricked by Quan Chi into thinking that Sub-Zero originally murdered Scorp and his family.
I asked myself... wasnt this issue scrapped a long time ago?
I'll be honest, Im still not sure what the heck happened. But as far as the point of this topic goes, Scorpion was an angered fella looking to reprise his vengeful role while letting fans see, he wasnt just a senseless angry spectre, but one with reason. Sorta making him the neutral fighter from here on.
You loved him, but feared him too.
Leaping ahead, Scorpion's role in the MK titles, no longer establishes anything about good or bad. But rather, becomes a tool instead. Even the god's used him to help stop the dragon king.
Its definitely something different. You dont even mention the past arcade games when trying to figure out the new 3D ones. IMHO.
All in all fellas, when things get out of hand with stories, origins and what not, remember one thing. These ideas arent exactly following a book.
Because there isnt a book out there that started this franchise.
These ideas seem to spawn at the moment they need em, sometimes creating more holes than patch ups.
In other words, dont beat your head in trying to figure out too much about these cool games. Atleast no yet...
MK8 coming sooon! Cant wait! _________________ MORTAL KOMBAT!!!
