I wish to see Sektor and Shao Kahn, I mean, whats the point of bringing the characters back just to leave them out for the next game

all the original characters from the first one should be in it, if they're not in it im not buying it either. Stryker has to be in there too, he is badass.

i support the idea of bringing new characters, of course, but i dont wanna hear that: the armageddon finished all the fighters, only sub-zero and scorpion survived, kitana, and even liu kang should return with other more, or maybe, it will be another game, maybe a spinoff of mortal kombat

RatedRSuperstar, you don't know that Stryker has in fact survived the Apocalypse. No one does. That's saying the MK Team releases some more information on the next generation MK games. As of right now, they have their hands full, so there is no telling when new info will be coming out. Midway is currently working on a video game for TNA Wrestling, well, last I heard. As far as characters that are returning, though, Scorpion and Sub-Zero are definitely returning because of their popularity, and so will Quan Chi. Scorpion's rivalry with Quan Chi brings a lot of popularity amongst the fans. It gets them wondering if and when Scorpion will enact his revenge on the sorcerer. Kahn's done with because he was taken away by Onaga after his confrontation with Shang Tsung. He was bitten in the neck by the Dragon King. As far as Sektor is concerned, Tekunin_Leader, he was killed after his warship blew up, but that's saying that MK:Ar's Konquest mode is canon. If you ask me, Shang Tsung will be the first to go because of where the Intro leaves off. You know, where his youth is being drained from him.

i think the most probable ones to be in are Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero but i would like to see Shinnok in (i know it's unlikely as they have allready had him in MK4 as the main bad guy) Ermac, maybe shang tsung

I for one, don't think that Scorpion and Sub-Zero  are what's keeping MK around. It's all Ed Boon's doing. I could care less if they return (which they are)  . MKDA had a roster of 21 characters which is ok. The thing is...only 8 of them were new and the other 13 were returning characters. As for MKD the roster consisted of 25 characters, in which had 17 returning and 8 new characters. So I can see about 8 new characters being introduced in MK8 and how many returning...a lot? The MK Team said they started fresh-like in MKDA, but I didn't really see that. They could be serious this time around, but I doubt that!
Now onto the topic......
Characters I want to return;
Drahmin, Ashrah, Havik, Kira, Nightwolf, Shao Kahn, Raiden, Tanya, Nitara, Kenshi, and Frost.

Maybe this time will be 15 new characters, with only 8 old ones, maybe we will see tremor, the brown ninja and kia and jataaka, the friends of sareena in Mortal Kombat 8

Yeah! Kano should come back. Although he has skipped the MK games with even numbers (2, 4 and 6)
Besides Kano I want these back:
Scorpion - no MK without him
Sub-Zero - see above
Quan Chi - interesting sorceror and worthy to take the new sorceror from Shang Tsung.
Raiden - cannot exlude him
Kung Lao - a very original charachter
Baraka - also very original.
These can stay dead:
Sheeva
Mokap
Jarek
Hsu Hao
Drahmin
Moloch

I don't know about anyone else here, but it would be interesting to see the Shadow Priest and or the Masked Guard in MK8 as being playable. I think that the Masked Guard has more of a chance to become a playable character. Anyone else?

That´s not a bad idea actually. The backstory for the Masked Guard could be that he used to be a warrior in Shang Tsung´s service but he quit for certain reasons.
He could replace Hotaru as the Naginata wielder also. The Shadow Priest are not as interesting since MK games usually has sorcerors like Shang Tsung and/or Quan Chi.

Well, that idea is not very bad, maybe is a spy like in the opening of shaolin monks was kunglao, but if this happens, i dont think that the character will be called "shadow priest" they will give him a properly name and will take off his/her cloak

The Masked Guard would work out quite nicely. The Shadow Priest should keep the cloak, but with the hood hanging down. Yes, both of them would need real names tho. Another character that would be great, is the Executioner from Kahn's army.
