I disagree. I rather liked Rains story; a prince of Edenia that was taken in by Kahn and became a blind follower till he started to learn the truth. Granted, he's a walking angst machine, but it makes sense considering his past.
And there's plenty of joke characters that still have important roles in the MK story, Bo Rai Cho for example.

I think that we should keep the old characters. So other fans around the
world can still enjoy them. The characters that survived could have some secret special move where they bring other people to life.
