And I'm not speaking about the crappy techno song in the first movie but a proper orchestral musical score. Something made by Zimmer or Shigeru Umebayashi. If they really make a 3'rd movie I really hope they don't f*** it up with trance/house mumbo-jumbo and make it more orchestral and tribal drums. But aside the movie.. the games, need a theme song, or songs!!!
Something you listen to in your spare time and visualise your battles and stuff. Something that you know it's mk but not some random techno/dance tune.
Whaddaya think?

I agree there. I think the techno track is awesome, it's probably the only techno tune I like. I think it should have songs inspired by MKI&MKII. There is one song in MKI, which is called "In The Beginning". It's obviously inspired by asian melodies. That's a very memorable track, and seeing music inspired by that, would make an epic score. "In The beginning" has a little happy tone to it but it's still awesome, my fav MK track and hearing a live performed would be great for the new movie. I'm familiar with Zimmer, but who's Shigeru Umebayashi?

Umebayashi is the Zimmer of Asia! He's a marvelous composer and a well known one. He made several orchestral soundtracks for great movies such as House of the Flying Daggers, Curse of the golden flower, Fearless, etc..

Unfortunately fighting game aren't exactly cinematic enough to get big names to compose something. But a more oriental feel is much needed. I agree on that point.

Agree with Jabba there. Video game movies aren't mainstream enough. Some people probably confuse them with comic book movies. A decent composer who composes music oriental style is enough. Maybe like Dan Forden, but I don't know if he can do movie sounds.

well I was a little harsh on techno syndrome. I loved it when I first saw the first mk movie and it did stick to my head but i really wanted to see Mk evolve in something more epic scaled.
I know that these here are just words on a forum because the bloody mk and huge orchestral soundrack don't click, but I thought it was a nice idea for mk to have some sort of theme song .

i think that in the matter of music, the mk team wont dissappoint us,it make very clear "mk8 will be dark" so i think that the music will be fine and very dark

That sounds exiting. Hope MK8 delivers. If the music sounds anything like MKII, I'll be more than happy, and if they bring back the music from The Portal stage and Kahn's Arena, it won't probably, but that would be awesome.

It would be hard to top Techno Syndrome though. I have a friend that loves the song but knows nothing about the games. But a song solely for the games is needed in my opinion.

I love the techno theme song too, but they only appeared in the movies. It has never appeared in any of the games, so can you really call it the theme song of Mortal Kombat or can you only call it the theme song of the Mortal Kombat Movies? Yeah, the games need a theme song. What should it be tho? What should it sound like?

It depends I suppose. They could base the theme off of how MK8 is going to be, environment, aura and feel. I hope they go back to MKI&MKII's feeling. Mysterious, oriental and slightly eerie.
