Couldn't be Raiden. He was corrupted by evil after his attempt to kill Onaga. That IS canon. It could be Kai. That would be pretty interesting. I don't see Rain as the hero. He maybe related to Taven, but he's not a good guy. A new hero (female or male) is most likely what it is going to be.

I don't see Rain as the main hero either, maybe if he has a change of heart and turns good, he can be an assistent hero. Having Kai as a new hero would be pretty interesting, he's a cool character. But Kung Lao along with Fujin and others would be simply awesome. I think a cool twist to the whole thing would be making Rayden the main bad guy and Fujin being the good. How about revealing that they are brothers?

Nobody does. It hasn't been stated by anyone from the team. Just some speculations, due to them being based on the same mythology. It could be a cool thing, if handled well that is. Not in a silly way like Annihilation.

Only thing Annihilation served was annihilating the story.
Only thing the movie actually got right is Johnny does die, but what they messed up there is that he didn't die at the hands of Kahn, but rather at the hands of his Extermination Squads. Another thing the movie miraculously got right is Raiden eventually becoming an Elder God, but what they messed up there is they made him the Elder God of Wind. No, that ain't right.
Also..
Raiden and Fujin being brothers sounds believable.
Raiden and SHAO KAHN being brothers is just ridiculous.
Now don't get me wrong, the movie itself was good, but it was totally wrong storywise.

I think Aniihilation is an unintentional comedy. I can watch it and laugh uncontrollably at. However I think it sucks. I have an idea for a hero(not the). Since lot of MK's heroes are based on real people, wouldn't it be cool to make aa hero based on Tony Jaa? He can look slightly like him and have the Muay Thai moves. There's potential for a character like that. Not many Thai characters are found today in video games, not that I know of. What do you think?

You may have seen Tony Jaa, he was in Ong Bak, awesome movie. I won't be surprised if you missed it though, it was in 2003. But he's really known now-a-days. I recommend Ong Bak. Here's a vid:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbEljNs_sYs

He'd be a new generation Liu Kang with a mastery over Muay Thai. His form of Muay Thai seems more disciplined and more advanced than Jax's, so he'd be a great character to fight with in MK8. Imagine playing with this guy and performing never ending combos all the way to the finish him screen!

MK8 does not need a new generation Liu kang type character! Let's all move on, literally!

Tony Jaa is an amazing martial artist. I've only seen a couple of his movies (Ong Bak, The Protector... I'm actually not sure if he's done any others), but they were SO impressive.
I could totally see a new character (maybe not the new hero, but definitely a main character) with Muay Thai moves... they totally need to make one of his signature moves an elbow to the head, though. or a double knee to the chest. =)
