Same here, obviously I am upset MK8 is some crossover,
but what bugs me even more its DC?! DC is weak. just weak.
MK vs My Little Ponys would be just as good as DC. |

That right ther is why this game is garbage.
This game better be a spinoff, I cant fathom this being in the MK story.

MK to me, isn't about shock factor. It was shocking the first time it came out. Never again since. But its definitely been most loved by fans all around the world. We got into the story and the blood factor was just the added incentive for us sick gamers.
This new approach is shocking, thats for sure.
Shockingly BAD. (speaking for myself)
But will the game's mechanics kick ass? Maybe. Of course non of us knows. Some of us hopes it does, some of us dont and some of us dont care anymore.
Regardless, my curiosity is peak and well...im crossing my fingers that they do put out a real MK cannon game in its own right soon after this retarded idea.

Maybe this game won't be entirely bad. Ed Boon had a dream, and now he's making that dream a reality. Don't blame Ed and the rest of Midway for the lack of lots of blood and fatalities. That is all DC's fault.
But hey, I've seen alot of people create superman on their MK: A.

I created Terminator and Bruce Lee yet I don;t want to see them as actual characters in MK. But I'm not so peeved at the idea anymore, its been an entire week and I feel much better than I did then (suffering from various stresses and illnesses) so I have mellowed out a air bit. I can now give this game a bit of credit for looking like its gonna be a bit of fun.

ya actually its whats called a "slider game", ie shaolin monks they act as a "fun in-between" so you can collect yourself inbetween the 1on1/2on2 tournament games

Thats what we're all hoping for. Again, Boon's interview really showed his excitement in bailing out on everything we knew about MK for a restart in the franchise in a very mainstream sort of way. Dont be surprised if we never get to see brutal fatalities as we all remembered it.
Hey, its quite possible that deep inside, Boon doesnt want to see fatalities again due to his age in the business. Ive seen plenty of comic artists take steps back as they got older instead of becoming more and more instense.
As an artist myself, thats going to be one of my biggest challenges. To stay on the game and just get better and not lazy.
Go faster not slower. And shoot those "less is more" messages as I see them as cheap excuses for not wanting to put more work into your work.
Mk represented a rebellious movement. The MK fans Ive come to meet are all about rebellious movement. It truly separates us from what is known as mainstream. Its like WWE vs Backyard wrestling. Do you want to see scripted and choreographed wrestling, or do you want to see some REAL IN YOUR FACE shit? I dont watch wrestling very much to begin with but I felt that was a good example. And most backyward wrestling fans I know HATE WWE.
When mixing both worlds or trying to mix both worlds, to me, it just sounds like a cry for "please bring some balls into our sissy universe" aka please add MK to our DC universe. But its really all very difficult to determine who went to who first.
Ed Boon says he went to DC. In another interview he said DC came to him.
The reason Im really moved by all this is because Mortal Kombat represented my most coolest getaway from reality. Everyone has their own fantasy world away from the clutches of the real world.
And it doesnt make you crazy to have one. Its rather healthy. Not to mention that Mortal Kombat is just plain Bad ASS.
So its fairly easy to see why many of us are sooo freaked out by this new change. The no fatality thing is reeeaaaAALLY pushing it. Heck, many of us already fell off the cliff of change.
Welp, guess we'll have to wait and see. If Boon has any black heart in him left, he will be smart and work on a REAL MK title ASAP.

Dark, as a former Backyarder and Indie Wrestler in training, I applaud your comparison, though the fakeness of WWE is only one reason why both Backyarders and Indie Wrestlers hate WWE. The company treats their wrestlers like crap, and expect them to work under insaine conditions; dispite most everything being faked, it does take a toll on them. Look at Chris Beniot as an example.
Getting back on subject however, I like Hybrids solution of just giving the DC side fatalities, but that wouldnt work anyways, as they want a "extremely pushing it T rating".

no versus games storylines are ever canon in a franchise,this is just spin-off/project boon wanted to do and im glad he has now gotten it out of the way ,so after this he can concentrate on a proper MK8 as he will see the fans of MK hunger after this game, just like how shaolin monks is like a alternate vision on the MK2 story, im sure we will see our proper canon game sooner or later
