Look up in the sky, its a bird, its a plane, HOLY CRAP its MK vs DCU! To begin I`ll start by saying that I`m a fan to the end. Mortal Kombat is my first true love (in video games)! That said HELLZ yes I`ll be picking it up. That does not mean that I have to like what I know about the game thus far. I wont bore you with what you already know, what I hope to do is inspire an All Points Bulletin on the where abouts of John Tobias!! Is it asking to much to have JT Kome down to Midway/Khicago and raise hell, demand his job back or at least Yell at the top of his lungs that HE IS THE REASON FOR THE SUCCESS OF MY BELOVED MORTAL KOMBAT!! Lets see, he came up with the background stories, "which up until he left Midway" made sense. He HAND DREW all Kharacters, leaving ED BOON to program! so maybe Ed should stick to programming and go finds John Tobias`s ASS, KISS IT, then admit he has betrayed the Legacy of MORTAL KOMBAT, the MK FANS, and yes the DC FANS!!!!
In closing I am really hoping ED BOON proves us all wrong or there will be at least one fatality he can be assured of.......KAREER_ALITY!!

I know that Tobais was a very smart man in business ethics. In the late 90s he could see that MK was being over publicised and foresaw what many thought was going to be the death of MK. However he would never get his job back due to the way he left them with a half-developed game that failed miserably. Plus do you really think they will listen to the fans now, petitions rarely get anything done anymore.

Where do people get the idea that MK is failing without John Tobias? MK could very well be in the same position, or worse if Tobias had stay on board.

Contrary to what many believe, Tobias is not God. Even if he came back there is nothing to say he will improve MK's fortunes. He went off to start his own franchise and it failed miserably, what does that say to you people?

CrispyDragon has a point there. Ed Boon is the producer of this game now and well his ideas is what goes into a mortal kombat game. And like jabbawocky said a petition signed by tons of mk fans just wouldn't work as well.

I mean Ed Boon and midway really just care about raking in the money more then the thoughts on if there fans are gonna like this game or not like the game. Like they said if you want the perfect game you got to make it yourself.

And of course you need to have the experience to do it. I mean all we can hope for is this is the only kind of not so great idea from him of a game and the next game will be the mortal kombat 8 or whatever it'll be called that we want. Cause it be a frigging nightmare if all the future mk games to come out are gonna be mortal kombat vs south park characters or insert any other type of nonsense type of mixup characters there.

Hence, why I am a video game programmer as my secondary profession.

But I think everyone is starting to blowing this a bit outa perportion. So DC may not be (to most of you) the greatest thing to mix MK with, but there are far worse things out there, and at least DC has the ability to mix with MK to a degree. Saying things like "next we'll see MK vs South Park" really would be the end of the series, mostly due to South Park being pure crap, and because it doesn't blend with MK at all minus the horribly animated gore in it.

And Tabias was a talented writer, one of the many I look up to. It was his work that made MK to be what we used to know it as. But if he returned to midway, like others said, it wouldn't make a difference: ultimately Boon has the final say in just about anything concerning MK, and I doubt anyone else on the team can take over his position.

MK was a thriving series when John Tobias was on the team, but he left during the development of MK: Special Forces. The game itself bombed, and John left and created Studio Gigante where he made a mediocre mortal kombat knockoff called Tao Feng. John most likely won't go back to Midway, and even if he did, he most likely wouldn't get his job back. (Unless Ed was to think back to the amazing past of MK with him on the team, and noticed how MK is failing now and the other co-creator of MK came back to help fix that problem.)

Its not a surprise to see an underground franchise hit take a plummet into the pool of a popular mainstream realm where it gets butchered up and transformed into something thats almost unrecognizeable to any fan.

But its also very difficult to take change with a grain of salt. Especially with what already seemed to have been radical changes in the last few games.

About a year back, I was complaining because Ive noticed the games arent ancient mystical or shaolin enough like how they used to be in the first 2 arcade games.

Now, I would totally settle for the changes when comparing them to whats happening now. Soon, there will be cute little chibi Mortal Kombat key chains and posters and fluffers and a cereal! ...<_<
Surely, I love Mortal Kombat. Definitely. And hope for it to thrive for years to come. But I dont want to see it turn into a creators wet dream of a comic book cross over. Its already been done. Its done.
Whats so new about tossing a comic book company (Capcom had the better deal too) with a fighter?

How about Boon works even harder and give us what he knows damn well what his fans want?

Agh.. anywho. Boring

All I want to say is that I feel the same. Hopefully this will be Boon's dream and the next mk's will deliver where we want them to. And I don't think that Tobias had such a MAJOR role for all of us to say we want him back. Sure, he was around when the best mk's hit the light of day but can we make HIM responsible? Maybe back then it was more passion than all money. Anyway, top posts Spectre

*claps* Well said Satyricon. Well said.

The series ain't gonna end at the hands of super heroes! That would make them super zeroes and no one would like them anymore!!

Yeah I don't think the next MK games will be a bunch of MK vs DC games. Boon knows damn well that many will eventually crave for a 100% MK game. It would be the death in many peoples eyes for MK if MK vs DC would be the new franchise. About Tobias, I think it would be great if he would return. His time as the lead artist was amazing. The characters were all liked by someone, you know? There wasn't really a character with no fanbase. He was excellent in what he did, he had the creativity and the right inspirations that suited MK. I think Boon along with Tobias would be unstoppable. Too bad it doesn't look like they reunite. But Boon can do without him. It's just that the people of MK need to search for the right inspiration and actually work and elaborate on the stories.
