The child is obsessed with all video games, not just Halo or Mortal Kombat. He has been playing since he could hold a controller. Just a little something he picked up from his Mom. Although I do share your dislike of Halo. It just does not rock my socks.

Yeah I was only joking. But to be honest I actually though it was Master Chef up until about 2 years ago. Until then I had only ever read the name on forums and never paid much attention to it as it wasn't anything important.
But even still, I don't see what's so special about a generic space marine in a generic sci-fi shooting game!! So bland! So boring! and so unoriginal!

I agree with you, but that's mainly because my best friend frags my arse every time he 'caught' me playing it. (Nothing kills a video-game interest faster, though MK is strangely an exception (must be the Payback Fatalities...  )
Anyway, what's so 'special' about 'The Spartans' is that they are supposed to be the obligatory 'Super-Soldiers' in the Halo franchise.
Although, what with the O.rbital D.rop S.hock T.roopers now being in the series, I can now see the 'Clone Troopers going the way of the Storm Troopers', if you catch my drift...

More or less, yeah...
The main difference is this:
O.D.S.T. and Standard Marines: Enlisted by choice, receive commission later.
Spartans: Commissioned from early childhood, never receive much of a choice (if any) in the matter. (Almost like the Lin Kuei, now that I think about it...  )
