The way I see it, the roster will be huge. The Midway system is fast and kick-ass at making a lot of characters, we can expect a huge cast. Ed Boon used the word 'counter-parts', which leads me to a simple system of figuring which characters will be used compared to others. Unfortunately, I'm still clueless. I've got a small list of assumptions (very general) based on popularity and relativity...
SubZero - Batman
Scorpion - Firestorm
Liu Kang - Superman
Reptile - Martian Manhunter
Cage - Flash
Sonya - Wonder Woman
Kitana - Black Canary
Tanya - Catwoman (heh)
Nightwolf - Green Arrow
Ermac - Green Lantern
There is no villain both relative and cool to Shang Tsung, Goro, or Shao Kahn. I don't like this system because, aren't the heroes from DC going to join up with MK heroes to battle the likely allying villains and Kombat assholes? I highly doubt many of the heroes will even fight...too much.
Any ideas on the list?

that would kinda be lame if that list was correct lol, i just hope they dont release a screen shot of subzero handshaking batman like cyclops handshaking ryu from xmen vs streetfighter
but yeah im interested to see if the DC heroes will even fight that much

Mein gott, the return of Krave! Finally the delinquent duo is reunited once more!
*ahem* Topic though...
I wouldn't see Tanya being in it. When I think about popular or reconizable characters from MK, I think the cast will be from around MK1-3. Like, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kano and Lex Luther stealing cakes together and ripping out peoples organs.
And oddly, I could see Khan finding amusement in the Joker; every king needs a royal jester.

Ermac and green Lantern? Sounds awesome. Especially since Ermac is one of my favorite characters.
Well, I find the perfect parallel is:
Shao Khan = Lobo

I couldn't see Tanya in the game either, but it's difficult to find connections with any of the characters really. If Lex Luthor is in this game I'll find myself laughing carelessly, what will he do? Super scream? Evil dancing of doom? I really like the Joker, his addition would be excellent (kind of, his fighting system would be whack) but alas, him and Kahn? He might connect with him but Lobo is a slightly (only slightly, only slightly) more sensible candidate...and his fighting would be pimpin'.
I figure Rayden, Kano, and Shang Tsung would be in it also, the connections just don't match. I hope the MK Team (the designers after all) will have more say in decisions like 'which character?' and 'what moves?' but I'm still glad to see DC's writers helping with the story; a necessity.

ooh, looks like someone's been living under a rock. =P
I don't think I've even read any DC comics (besides Batman, natch), but I know who all of those guys are, 'cept Firestorm. he sounds pretty cool, though. (Martian Manhunter is one of my faves. green men... <3)
if you'd watched Justice League Unlimited, then you'd probably learn a lot more names. =)

...you know, I wish they'd use characters from their Vertigo subdivision (like V or Lucifer) or from WildStorm.
I think V would be pretty damn interesting, but no special moves.
