What are some of your greatest MK memories?

Mine first of all, is the first time I played Mortal Kombat on the SNES. My brother who is like 6 years older than I had rented it for his SNES. Since that was my first game it didn't matter if it sucked because back then I couldn't comprehend what a 'good' game actually was, since it was the first time I ever played a video game. I was one of those 4 year olds (I'm only 17 now) who actually played the game. Even back then I don't remember that it scared me or freaked me out like alot of people. Ever since then I've always been an MK fan.

Also, I remember all of the release parties. The day that the new MK games would come out either my brother or his friend would invite a ton of people over to play the game. The most memorable party was probably when MK2 came out. That was pretty awesome. And of course the arcades were really fun. I'd go straight to an MK machine if I were at an arcade, and have lines of people behind me trying to beat me.

Oooh well,

First time I was subjected to Mortal Kombat was when my mum bought me MK1 for the Sega Mega Drive. Yes, I played this way before I sampled Street Fighter! I think I was 6 or something. Anyway after that we had moved house and the moment we got in the new house, I quickly set up the Mega Drive in front of the living room TV and started playing MK. Aaah good times Smile Although for a while I did have nightmares about Kano - he kinda scared me for a bit. But I seemed to have built up a resilience towards him and the other nightmarish characters and eventually came to love it to bits. I then rented out MKII and then MK3. God me and my brother woke up at like 5am and played continuously on that for reasons unknown to me hehe.

Then I borrowed UMK3 of a friend and was completely hooked. It was this game and Gunstar Heroes I used to play constantly. Then I kinda lost interest as the series went into 3-D. Unfortunately it kinda lost its charm and ingenuity. In other words, I think Shang Tsung took the soul out of the MK franchise as it turned the characters into 3-D models as opposed to real people digitized as characters. Those were the days...

I have 2 fondest memories with Mortal Kombat.

1, when MK2 first hit our local minimart and my buddy and I were there early morning just to play it before anyone else got to it. Amazing game.

2, when I bought MK2 for the SNES at my local shopping mall while my mother was buying clothes. I had to throw the bag out and stuff the game in my sweater pocket so she wouldn't see it. She had threatened to throw the game away if she ever found out i had it.
Everytime she was distracted by something, Id play a few rounds. Then when she slept, Id play all night with the volume set very low. lol... She'd get up to use the restroom and I'd have to shut it off fast and pretend i was watching tv.
hilarious times.

I would probably add that when the first movie came out, it was a very very cool timeline. Music, movies, people in general, were pretty cool back then.

Everyones an a-hole now and the music sucks. jk lol. Laughing

My fondest memory of MK must be the first movie. Before that I had only played MKI on SNES, so I immediately favored the movie before the games, since I wasn't hardcore on VGs at that time. The movie still holds up but around that time I though it was the greatest movie in the world, my brother did too. I had a lot of friends that loved the movie too, but they were not HARDCORE fans of the games later on, which was sad. It's sad that the movie is never on TV anymore, at least where I am. I have to watch it soon, could use a nostalgia trip.

I have more memories of MK Trilogy too, played that game with friends and brother endlessly, good times Smile

Mine is playing MKII on the Sega Genesis when I was 3 or 4 with my older brother. My parents knew that we were good kids and never tried to recreate the violence in the game in real life. However we did try to do Liu Kang's bicycle kicks into our couch! lol! After we owned MKII we used to rent MK1 at the Blockbuster near us. MKII will always be my favorite! The memories!

ahhh yes, good times...
welll for me i used to read comics alot, and on the back of those comics, were mortal kombat adds for mortal kombat 1 i believe on the snes, but anyway i didnt think much about it at first. so a few years passed and i was invited to a friends birthday party, and where we went, there was mortal kombat 4 arcade, mainly being reptile i have no idea why so i played a few rounds, and a few memory bells were rung, but after we left i was trying to puzzle together were it was all from so a year after that i found a journal of mk drawings (which were pretty good and maybe ill put it in the art area when its working again) and again, more bells so my brother finds me mortal kombat 1, and it all comes back to me, all those fond memories on the back, of kano's evil grin and cage's obnoxious hollywood face, and that is how i really got into mortal kombat Very Happy

Back in the day, my dad, my brother, and I would play MK2, but when I got annoying, my dad or my brother would pick Baraka to scare me out of the room. (I was scared of Baraka when I was a child.) Not that THAT was a particularly fond memory, but it was great when my dad and my brother LIKED to play MK with me. I miss those days...

My memory would be trying to play Mortal Kombat. It was a war between me and my mom. My mom was reluctant because of those people who take a crap, say that it's extensive research on M-rated games affecting every single person that is under 17, and putting it on paper and somehow making books about that crap. Luckily, my brother knew otherwise and told my mom that it would not affect me at all. She believed him more than anything, so I was allowed to play Mortal Kombat. Boy I tell you, I was so happy the first time I ripped someone's heart out, now when I try a fatality and it's successful, the most I say is "there it is" or something like that. But yeah, there's my long-ass memory for you.
