...so Capcom (with mostly Street Fighter I figure) is having a vs. game against Tatsunoko (Japanese anime company). It's all here. I'm a little confused since they have SF IV coming out soon anyway. Comeback much? _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

Sadly, I see it selling better then MK vs DC. In this day and age, anime fans out number american comic fans greatly. It's the era of japan-animation.
I most likely will rent the game, to give it a try when it comes stateside, though I highly doubt I'll be buying it. The only Capcom characters that could save this game are Dante and Virgil, though I somehow doubt they'll make an appereance.
On the flipside as well, i was never really impressed with Tatsunoko's, work. Granted, they co-produce my one true anime/manga addiction. Neon Genesis Evangelion, with mixed rights, I doubt I'll see any Eva's going toe to toe with Speed Racer and Ryu. Like-wise, they're other two power house anime titles, Macross and Robotech have multiple liscenses that confuse the fuck out of even the people that own them, so they'd never make it into the game.
Let Capcom have it's fun. I doubt the game will move anywhere. _________________

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Vain but the Japanses are greedy bastards (no offense meant but...) they are very restrictive of letting games that they feel are "too Japanse" leave their shores. Although if it does come tothe Western Hemisphere I should think it will give MKVDC a run for its money, but in most cases people now would just buy both since videgames are cheaper enough and the likelyhood of them being rleased against each other is slim. _________________ Yippie Ki Yay

I wouldn't say greedy: if they truly were greedy, then they would PUSH for their stuff to be sold world wide, as to bring royalty cash back into the country. I'd say it's more of a cultural insecurity and a slight superiority complex.
When they create something (sticking on the subject of games specifically), if they feel it will sell well, they'll begin talks of shipping it out of country, but in doing this, it takes away from the country having something exclusive to it. Likewise, if they feel a game is 'too hard' for American gamers, they wont release it till the game gets re-worked and a less challenging version is made. (Final Fantasy series ring any bells?)
But, there's been few Capcom games that Japan has that has yet to come stateside, and even games that were originally Japanese only, do end up sneaking their way into America in some form or another. (Usually, by means of a Capcom vs game). _________________

I don't think the Japanese are greedy in the ways of money but they are selfish in not sharing culture. I don't really see the point in games being exclusive to a country (thatcould be because Europe gets no exclusive games and is nearly always last to recieve new games, minor exceptions being Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap which UK got first). I also wonderwho decides that games are "too hard" I mean games are meant to be a challeneg and we don't throw major tantrums when we can't complete it, heck some games get legendary status out of it (Super Ghost and Ghouls). I think in the end all it does is create a mockary of the video game industry (e.g. Super Mario Bros 2 and I don't mean the Lost Levels I mean Doki Doki Mario). However when they remake and reshape a game for Western shores in recent times they do seem to be quite fun (Elite Beat Agents being the strongest example I can think of). _________________ Yippie Ki Yay

Another great example of repackaging a game for the western front is Arcana Heart. Like many others, it is an arcaded game that was mostly just in Japan, then atlus grabbed the rights, and ported it onto the PS2. And, because Atlus knows what they're doing, they left in all the original audio. (Hurray for no shitty dubbing! Though I've never hated their dubs for most apart) _________________
