If so, Shang Tsung better have a proper design maybe along the lines of MKI or MKII. I dislike the ones in MKDA.

Really? I hated his MK2 design, I find his MKDA design to do him the most just for his 'younger' appearance.

The alt one was OK, I'm probably being too picky because of the color. But which appearance one would be more iconic? His old age or young one?

Probably his younger one.
He's only appeared old for two games: MK1 and Shaolin Monks.
All the other ones, he was younger.
And the movie and tv series, he was younger.
