Assassin's Creed - Such a 'meh' game. Horrible controls (PC) and graphics wise, it's quite ordinary. Have to say, the premise of the game was great, but Sparkle lost attention after a few levels.
Hellgate London - Boring and shit controls. You can't even customise the mouse buttons!!!!

Halo: Overrated incarnate. It's just a generic shooter with an unoriginal story.
Street Fighter: Boring action, too easy, nothing but a fire ball fest.
Tenkaichi: A Budakai in name only, it's a pathetic attempt to change controls and focuses more on roster size then quality game play.
Pixeljunk Eden: Overly simplistic game play and boring as hell.
Just to name a few.

Actually it's true: it's a first person shooter (Not new), set in the future (not new), about a mary-sue (not new) that fights aliens (not new).
Tell me where I am wrong? The controls are crap, and the story is dull. It's only popular do to it mostly being an xbox title. The PC version flopped, hard. Why? Because to PC gamers, it was just another run of the mill game. It takes a game truly unique and amazing to stand out in FPS/TPS on PC, and Halo proved it wasn't any one of them.
Also, the first Halo was the only one of the series that could be 'decent'. The rest were exactly the same thing, with small gameplay changes.
When you can give me a reason why it's 'great' other then 'they are great', then let me know.

Well, there are actually a lot of things that are great about it. The weapons are very creative. The plasma grenades, the needler, the plasma sword, the brute spiker, etc. The concept of a world in a "halo" ring in space is really cool. And the vehicles are fun to drive, e.g. the banshee. The online play is my favorite thing about the series.
So I know we are really into "opinions" now, but I highly believe that Halo is a creative series.

A world in a halo ring, plasma swords, mass rapid fire guns (needler), vehicles, and everything else listed as well have been done numerous times before. Even the story concept was taken from a book series.
Again, no creativity, just a rehash of what's been done before.

mortal kombat armeggedon sucked horribly dont know if that counts
enchanted arms it had good points but they were usually followed by complete bordem virtua fighter 5 the gameplay seemed stiff almost like MKA

Dude, armageddon is pretty good! In fact, I love it! I don't care about the bugs and bad fatalities. It has some flaws but overall it's a good game.

yeah im with dasin7 in armageddon being a shit game. i had big expectations for it before it came out when they said it would feature a big roster thinking they'd keep the old way of fatalities in it but they didn't and added a new crappy way of doing them and not to mention forgetting the bios in the game. Pretty much it killed my excitement for the game when i first got it i bought the collectors edition as well when i used to have my ps2.

Assassin's Creed only sold well because at the time it was the best game out despite being so damn repetitive.
John Woo's Stranglehold offered more than it delivered.
Halo is possibly the most over-hyped game in history. So many scenes in the game have been lifed from Star Wars and every other decent space opera. The weapons have been lifted out of other games. Heck the first Halo game starts to repeat the same levels two thirds in.
Enter the Matrix. Nuff said.

Wouldn't say best at the time though. It certainly looked sexy, but there are games that is at least a decade older and still better.

What I meant was the it was the only half decent new release when it came out thus it had nothing to compete against in the sales charts.
