You seriously must not play many FPS's then.
Keep in mind, I'm not a big shooter fan from the get go, so when I speak highly of any shooter, it's with reason.
Halo is just another run of the mill shooter that only got popular do to advertising whoring from Microsoft, as it was it's main title. It offers nothing new, and between Jabba and myself, we've completely proven this.
Halo 2 and 3 litterally did nothing to add to the game play, they just changed around a few things and moved the story an inch. That's it.
The best FPS in my eyes is easily Team Fortress 2.
First, it's skill based. Any moron and their grandmother can go on a rampage in Halo, trust me, I tried it out with my mom, and she got the game down pat within minutes. I'm not saying it's bad to have easy to learn controls, but when someone who's only gaming expertise is Mortal Kombat and Mario goes on a killing spree in a FPS, you know there's a flaw in your game design.
Team Fortress 2 takes skill. You can't use any class without effort, practice, and time to develop. Case in point: when I first tried out Spy, I thought it was weak compared to the other classes, and felt pointless 'cept for annoying Engineers. But, once I started practicing with the Spy, I grew to love it, and to this day I'm one of the best Spies on the PS3.
Another thing TF2 has over Halo is balance. Halo is all about who has the bigger gun and who can shoot it first. TF2 is about who has the ability to use what weapons you have effectively. There's no going and picking up machine guns and rocket launchers; only Heavy's can carry a mini machine gun, while only Soldiers can use rocket launchers. There's a balance to it.
Another fine point to make is Halo, despite having team modes, requires no team work at all. A person can be on a team, but run off as a one man army and still do just fine.
TF2, well, it says it right in the name, TEAM Fortress 2. Sure, it's great being god like on your own, but when you're facing down an array of level 3 sentry guns, Heavies and Soldiers with Medics, and Pyros hunting Spies, you can't do shit on your own. You need that fellow player to assist you, and you need to work as a team to plow through the enemy defenses.
I could seriously go on with this, but my point is clear. You're entitled to your opinion, but you offer no real reason to back up what makes Halo so much better then any other shooter.

The Halo Series Is More Famous Than Team Fortress ... and even better than team fortress . I honestly knew team fortress from orange box ....
When you play Match making in halo3 .. theres over a million players playing it at the same time .....
Above this all ... its a matter of opinion ... i think its the best 1st person shooter in the world ... and you think its team fortress ... Its a matter of opinion.
besides in the inside xbox news they gave halo 3 the best first person shooter weapons ... they said the gravity hammer was the best weapon on the xbox 360 .... and team fortress is on the xbox right? ...... so i guess that settles it Halo 3 Weapons Are Better Than Team Fortess Weapons.

Again, I can tell you really don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Xbox news is made by, you guessed it, Xbox loyalists and Microsoft staff. Halo is made by... oh, would you look at that, Microsoft! And The Orange Box and the stand alone Team Fortress 2 is made by Valve, who's primarily a PC game company. Yup, there's no bias in that debate at all...
Seriously, I respect your right to your opinion, but I highly doubt you even have much shooter experience, due to that's the case with most Halo fans. It's the exact reason why Halo bombed on the PC, PC gamers knew it was crap and didn't bother with it.
But once more, it's all opinion, however I can list plenty of shooters that are far superior to Halo in every way.

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion here but I have to agree with VainZiler. I am no shooter expert by far but I have played both games and I think Halo was over rated and over advertised which added to its popularity. As far as reviews and inside Xbox news goes, i can only see that their statements about the game would be somewhat bias. (could it be possible that the advertising for this game was directly related to the fact that Halo really hasn't changed much?...its a typical case of pushing a product as far as it can go...create a game that in principle is not much different to its predecessors and make a huge hype about it).
Even if the statement by inside Xbox news is true, that still doesn't make it a better game...so what if Halo has better guns, TF2 still had way more appeal... and wasn't nearly as clichιd or monotonous as Halo.
So no offense Scorpion7...i would join you for a game of MK anyday...but not halo.

you are all right , and i play lots of first person shooter from the day i played video games .... and by far my best is halo and far cry .
OF COURSE no game in the whole world can compare to Mortal Kombat .
thats your opinion i totally respect it . i still like halo more than any 1person shooter game.
