Right then. Let me set the scene. I have until the 27th October to create a Scorpion outfit from scratch. I've scoured the net but can't find anywhere that does MK outfits. So, it looks like I have to make one myself.
It's for a fancy dress halloween party and I'm determined to have the best outfit.
So, fellow forummers, do you have any tips / suggestions / ideas on how to make some of the parts?
I'm going for the UMK3 scorpion look, as The ones before it are a little too simple, and the newer ones too complicated. Any help would be great!
P.s. due to my noob-ness, I don't know how to upload pics properly....

Well, this actually shouldn’t be too difficult. The underclothing is the easiest…simply find yourself a black relatively tight fitting polar neck shirt and cut off the sleeves. Next
You should probably try and find a similar type of black material (and get hold of a balaclava…I don’t know what you guys call it, a ski-mask I think) study the stitching and get your Gran /Mom/Girlfriend to stitch the material in the same fashion (unless of course you can do it yourself)….Ok, there are many ways to create the exterior mouth piece but personally I would make it out of clay (that way you can sculpt away to your hearts desire and really get it perfect). You should be able to pick up some clay from you nearest hobby/craft or art store. Once the mold is dry you could spray paint it or paint it by hand…if you spray paint it, pick up a can of clear lacquer to give it a nice glossy look.
As far as the outer uniform goes the best thing I can think of is probably that vinyl kind of material, its relatively cheap and you can cut it the way you want it (you should probably get black and yellow…cut the black first and then try have the yellow panels stitched to it. The arm guards could probably be made from football shin protectors (soccer) and sprayed yellow as well…the black underlining of the fore arms could also be made from the polar neck sleeve off cuts with a bit of work…and that’s about all I can think of…ill post here if I think of anything else…hope this helps.

A friend of mine also suggested using the bottom of a paint ball face guard as the mouth piece…this is obviously if you have one, or know someone who is willing to give you theirs, cause I think they are pretty expensive…otherwise if you could borrow one somewhere, you could still make one out of clay…just use the paintball mask as a base to mold the clay one on and when you done, spray it yellow...again, i hope this helps.

Cheers. I can proudly proclaim that my outfit is complete. The mask was a little hard to do, but It was never going to be perfect. I ended up just making it out of cloth. Apart from the mask, I'd say it's even better than the one they used in the first movie!
I'll post photos if anyone could show me how to properly do it...

Awesome, I have to see this outfit... I'm not too sure how to do it myself but i think signing up with photo bucket or something similar and up loading your images is a start. After that i'm not entirely sure.

Cant wait to see it brother. For UMK3 Scorpion costume, all you need is foamies foam sheets, hot glue gun with high temp glue sticks, industrial strength velcro, scissors, yellow plasti dip spray, black sleeveless shirt, stealth cowl you can either buy for like 8 bucks or make it yourself if you have a sewing machine (even a mini sewing machine), black tights and some tabi boots if you want to take it further.
I made my MK costumes this way years back and are still very popular today. In fact, I collected a bunch of pics of people who used my suits as their base sets for their suits.
Perfection is key. _________________ MORTAL KOMBAT!!!
