I think Mk.vs.Dc will make just enough sales to encourage Ed Boon to make MK9.

This game is not mk8 so the next game is a spin off title. Therefore that also means that it is ultimately irrelevent to Midway or Ed Boon if this game is successful in the creation of MK8. This is because if its not successful (which I highly doubt) MK and DC will part company and say the combination doesn't work. If it is successful it will merely influence them into making another crossover title down the line whether that is MK vs DC 2 or something entirely different.

There's also the fact that Midway is in a lot of financial trouble at the moment. If Midway ends up folding and closing it's doors, it would all depend on if another company seen enough opportunity in MK to purchase the rights, licenses, and ultimately continue the franchise.

What company wouldn't want to pick up one of the most famous fighting game series in history? Can't say I'm suprised Midway is going down though apart from MK games (and even sometimes in that case) they haven't been releasing up to the standard.

They need to do something really crazy I think when MK8 comes. Personally yes a new set of characters would be a start in all honestly they need to break down the whole format of Mortal KOmbat and start from the ground up.

Because youtube is the most reliable source of information... no seriously everyone who thinks that MKDC is MK8 has to think long and hard about why Boon woul ruin seven games worth of history by including comic book characters into the continuity. It is a spin-off pure and simple.
