I have the PC version of MK4 but i can't get it to work...after installation i try run the game and this bar comes up with rescan cd, demo mode or exit options on it. apparently there is a patch to fix this but i cant find it anywhere. If anyone knows where i can find it or otherwise how to fix this please let me know. Thanx. _________________

nope, I've uninstalled and reinstalled bout 5 times now and same problem...but apparently its quite a frequent happening...I've browsed a couple of other sites where it became evident that this problem is quite common...and yet no answers (its and original version...if that makes any difference). _________________

I only got this game to work once on my Windows XP Pro system. And it SUCKED.
No really. The graphics didnt get any better even with a higher end video card. Hard to control and overall just not worth it.
When I tried to reinstall it, the same thing happened just like your outcome.
There was a patch floating around. But then I recalled the bad PS1 style graphics and said forget it.
I tried to raise the graphics bar to its highest but the game itself is capped at a certain degree and wont utilize your video card to its fullest.
I would reeeeeally recommend you either obtain this game on the cheaply priced N64 system or even better, the Dreamcast system which are alll over ebay for not so much. _________________ MORTAL KOMBAT!!!

Sounds like a plan, thanx DarkSpecter, also is the game any better on the
N64 or Dreamcast system and if so which one is better (Sorry, I know this may sound like a stupid question...its just that I have never owned either system...so i don't really know what they were capable of). _________________

Dreamcast. Has the complete Mk4 roster and story, slightly better load times then the PS1 version, and retains the FMV if i am not mistaken. _________________

Hell yeah. Vain said it straight bro. If you have neither, definitely grab the dreamcast with MK Gold. It's smooth playing. _________________ MORTAL KOMBAT!!!

sweet, thanx guys this was really helpful..started researching the Dreamcast and it does seem like the better option. Maybe I'll just leave the Pc version on the shelf for now, I always prefered playing MK's on console anyway. _________________
