Ba humbug.
I don't see a point in celebrating holidays, they're either based on religious beliefs, or falsified/over hyped.
But hell, I am also the guy that doesn't believe in celebrating birth days.

Sadly, there was no fucking or merriment for me (not that I have a habit of getting tanked on the 25th, mind you - a crying shame, I know), and I ate waaaay too much, as usual. In fact, I'm still recovering from that today!
So, um... did you guys get much? (In terms of presents/gifts/freebies, that is.)

I see the point Sparkle, I just don't see the point. (Ok, that made no sense, let me rephrase that.)
Many enjoy the holidays for the break from work, to spend that time with friends and family, or to just have a good time on their own. Nothing wrong with it, but to me, there's no point in idolizing a holiday. Simplistically speaking, a holiday is nothing more then one big day off. But why need a government mandated holiday to find a reason to spend time with others, or getting smashed?
I just don't fully get it. We present the illusion of a deeper meaning to little kids that there's some special significance to holidays for... what? So that once they realize that the cake was a lie, they can grow up to repeat the same lie? I got a bit off track with that thought there, but that's always something that bugged me too.

You are probably the first person to complain about a paid, public holiday. The more the better.
Now, as for idolising Christmas, well, Sparkle doesn't really. You won't find a single tree in his joint, nor does he search for a deeper meaning of Christmas. If you are religious, go nuts with the soul searching and the midnight prayers. If you're not, go enjoy the company of your friends and family. That's it. Anything else is just commercialism, which Sparkle hates, too.

lulz, the last part of my little rant there really wandered in my 'serious attitude' factor, as I cannot stay serious for too long. I was basically using the cake from portal as a metaphor.
