but all in all this game is awesome

Sales, sales, sales. Midway wouldn't make as much money if younger kids couldn't buy the game. They did have a couple of fatalities which would have rated the game Mature, check em out on youtube.

DC also has a hand in the game, don't forget.
Even though Mortal Kombat vs. DCU is not canon in either universe, seeing Superman barbecue someone with his heat vision , a la Kano from UMK3, or Green Lantern killing someone with his ring would cause a lot of outrage from DC fans. In this respect, I admire them for keeping their characters from getting too violent.
However, I did want to see some more gruesome Fatalities, so in that respect I was a bit disappointed. Still, I grew up on The Justice League and Mortal Kombat, so this game was a dream come true.
I just hope the new characters come soon.
