Post subject: What are the ups and downs of switching back to 2-D? |

i've heard alot of people want 2-D back, myself being one of them, what are the ups and downs of switching back? and which do you want?

Hmm its a hard choice for me. I don't play the 3d games after I beat em but I play mk2 and trilogy alot. I would like the games to continue in 3D because its the latest technology and shit. BUT......I would also like to see another 2D game...maybe another mythologies title? Or an extra mode in the 3D game were you can have matches in 2D. Dunno if it would work im reeeeally thinking here lol I love 2d mk but I don't think MK shud take any step back technology wise.
Hard question dude I still havn't made up my mind properly dude.

No id say it would be alot cheaper to switch back to 2D. But with todays gamers 2D = Age of the Dinosaurs. lmao 
I wouldn't mind maybe seeing a triple pack re-make of mk1/2/3. That would get fans buying it lol
Think about it the new 3D MK game with a bonus re-make of the 2D Klassics (in 2D of coure). Or they could just release a remake. Or they could release all the Klassics on all systems not just UMK3 for XBox and MK2 for PS3.

Well i think it's the quality that counts. The real question is, what are there more of? The 2-D fans or the 3-D fans? I like the idea of the 3-D with the 2-D in it, It'd be sweet if they did that for every game. But that'd be alot financially and timewise. I doubt it'll work out with 2-D ever again but i appreciate w/e i get. so long as they come out with more games (like mk 1 2 and 3 for ds would be awesome) and mk9 i'm good.

Well without a doubt id say there are way more 2D fans than 3D fans. But yeah it would take aaaaaages to do the 2D and 3D shit but its a good idea non-the less. I don't have a DS because I hated portable consoles for years but I wouldn't mind getting them to play MK.

Id rather get a psp though to play MK1 as sadly...........(are you ready?)..........................I don't own a copy of the original!  
I don't own any system that its on and I don't have the american premium version of deception so im screwed

Back on topic of this topic, it would be cool if they make a new MK in the sense of Street Fighter IV, where it's 3-D graphics, but with a 2-D fighting engine. That way we could get to do combos like in UMK3.

Amen to that, brother. A 2.5D Mk would be ideal in my opinion. MK is one of the very few fighters that still concentrates heavily on fireballs, and special moves. These are very 2D elements, which got lost from most fighting games during the transition to 3D. To see them fitting back into a 2D(ish) environment would be fantastic, and could really bring some soul back to the franchise.

Dunno man MK influenced by a street fighter game?! 
MK vs DC was like that and so was MK4. 3D graphics with 2D gameplay. And I have to admit MK4 ain't one of my favs and MK vs DC is......MK vs DC.
As always there are strengths and weaknesses. The glory days can't be repeated in 3D man it just don't work or at least will be very fuckin hard to do well.
