according to gamefaqs.com which is really a game spot site .... said that mk9 is 2d ... dont know about that ...  ..... whats your thoughts ?

Nah there is no way MK8/9 is gona be 2D man. Iv already said it would be kool to see a 2D extra with the game like a remake oof mk1/2/3. And they are putting a lot of the 2D era stuff that fans liked into the new game but I don't think it will be 2D. Ed Boon has already stated that he wouldn't want to see another 2D MK title because he don't wana take a step back in technology. Plus Midway is out of buisness man its no more. Warner Bros own it and it says Midway is publishing it on that link. So yeah I don't think it will be 2D.
Would be pretty sweet though!

I would actually like to see it continuing in 3D.
All the fighting games are getting 2D revivals these days.
A classic fighter that has been 3D for most games in the series should remain as such. If MK went back to 2D, they couldn't top Mortal Kombat 2. (unless they just re-released MK2 w/ revamped graphics and stuff.)

Sounds good, hope they keep the being knocked from arena to arena (like in MK3) or different levels in an arena though

Yeah the multi-level uppercut would be nice to see again.
I also hope to see the Mercy feature from MK3/UMK3 make a return.

I think Mortal Kombat should go completely MUGEN just once, like for the DSi or somwething...
Anyhoo, MK9 needs to be in 3D, if Boon plans on keeping what little of a career he has left. Damnit! Why did Tobias have to leave? Everything went straight to hell since he left!

haha yeah. I think the one move that I actually fucking despised getting hit with was Noob Saibots' Disabler Orb.  
My mate loves it. But I whip out Kabal and hes fuckin done for lmao

This is most likely a rumor that MK 9 will be in 2D. This is true for any and all new games that are due to come out. This applies especially for Mortal Kombat. I, for one, would be disappointed if I found out that the new MK was gonna be this way. The 3D versions have been awesome! I was extremely disappointed when MK vs. DCU came out because it lacked the central theme of the games: beating the absolute hell out of your opponents, and rubbing it in their face with a fatality. I hope that this time, they decide to tell us who will be surviving the Apocalypse, and who the new main villain is. Speaking of which, any recommendations on the new villain?
