You play as Sub-Zero and Scorpion, also known as the Shoalin Monks in a beat em up game that rapes the Mortal Kombat 2 story line, but offers tons of fun because it has a fighting mode to use characters unlocked in the game for an old fashioned beat down, or, if you have the NTSC version, you can unlock the arcade classic Mortal Kombat 2 and have fun with that.

Wait, I thought you played as Liu Kang and Kung Lao? You know, hence the title...why would you be able to play as everyone else if it was titled 'Shaolin Monks'

You play as Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Scorpion and Sub-Zero can be unlocked and then played as through the same storymode. There is a VS option also which you unlock other MK2 kharacters to play as.
I HIGHLY recommend this title man it is very popular among the MK Kommunity. Its just awesome. Takes place after MK1 and during MK2. Its packed with secrets (some STILL not found!!!!) and other MK related fun. Tons of gruesome fatalities, Boss specific fatalities, Brutalities, Multalities......man do yourself a favor and JUST BUY IT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!!! This is koming from a HUGE MK fan.
Even non MK fans like it.
Its so popular a sequel will happen...eventually.

I'm with Razer on this one. Not only is MK:SM one of the best MK titles in recent years, but it's one of the best MK titles PERIOD. OK, so it's miles different from the regular games, but I think that's where it's charm lies. It's a good fun, gore-filled romp through a block of MK history. It tells a few lies here and there (as far as I can remember) but it's still really enjoyable stuff.
