Post subject: Vincent Proce MK1 Re-Imagining Pitch Art |

From MK vs DCU Artist Vincent Proce's personal blog.
He pitched the idea for a re-imagining of the original Mortal Kombat when he worked for Midway. He drew 4 kharacters: Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Raiden and Kano. I will post Proce's own entries here as well as the illustrations.
"Here are the never before seen Mortal Kombat characters I designed for a Mortal Kombat pitch I made before I left Midway last year. The basis for the idea was a re imagining of the Mortal Kombat franchise from the original premise but mixing modern muti-player and dismemberment game design with the original fighting mechanic.
I also took the original character designs and upgraded them."

"Scorpion as a wraith wearing the yellow blood of the demon that helped him resurrected to exact his revenge against his mortal enemy."
"Raiden as a god who's feet rarely touch the ground."
"Sonya, the daughter of a Texas Ranger who's sex appeal weakens her opponents while her Special Forces training kicks their asses."
"Kano, half Japanese half US military bad ass."
"These are the only four characters I designed and presented with the pitch. The game idea isn't going to happen now that I no longer work there. I still would like to one day redesign all the rest of the original characters if I ever find the time."

That could possibly be the best quote I've ever seen 
These sketches are amazing. Real dark and dangerous feel to them. It almost looks like MK meets Twisted Metal. I'd happily hand MK over to this guy to see what he could do with it.

Me too man the idea is great to me. Although a few statistics would change. But thats the beauty of Re-imaginings lol
The Scorpion and Kano sketches are bad ass!

It's a pity this guy doesn't work with the Team any more, because I'd really like something to become of this. I always enjoy a good remake. When somebody takes an age old concept and puts there own spin on it, it usually impresses me. Even if the game/ movie in question isn't overly good, it's the ideas and thought put behind it that I like.

I like all of them except the Sonya one. THe really sexed up female fighter is just done. It takes too much away from the character.

Yeah the sexy female warrior has been done countless time but I wouldn't mind seeing it. Shes the only female in MK1 so making here a really brutal fighter would be a nice twist I think.

The dude has stated on his blog that he would like to redesign the rest of the kast when he has the time. So my guess is if we keep askin him he'll do it dude lol
