I dunno man, the guy doesn't even put much effort into killing himself, let alone killing others.
His hara kiri is just him tossing his hammer into the air and hoping like hell it puts him out. I think by simply being the son of an elder god, he takes himself way too seriously.
He's hard to beat in MK3, though, I'll give you that. You can't just do the high jump kicks like in MK2.

I don't think Shao Kahn is actually the son of an Elder God or the Brother of Raiden. Thta was just for the movies im sure.
