As a player of all the games in the MK series (minues Sub-Zero Mythologies and special ops), I must say that I REALLY liked Shaolin monk's. The entire gameplay style was great and the added ability of co-op was just perfect.

I would have liked it if the game allowed more characters for the storymode (my bro and I REALLY wanted to play through as Reptile and Baraka).

This also brings an interesting idea to the foreground concerning MK9.

What if it allowed up to 4 people in the battle area at once and how about team fatalities? Both of which were documented in the concept art of MK: Deception.

I still think it'd be cool...

4 players at once...That would be awesome on so many levels, dude. It would be like, "Sub Zero Wins! Fatality!" with Scorpion killing Sub Zero right after Sub Zero killed Baraka. So many krazy possiblities....

I also enjoyed the game, MK: Shaolin Monks. It was a new experience for the Mortal Kombat Universe, and I was hoping for a sequel.

I also think it would be nice to play as other kombatants (e.g. Reptile, Baraka, Johnny Cage, etc.) But, If that were to be included, than each of the kombatants should have there own storyline (KO-OP and SINGLE PLAYER alike). Not like the original Shaolin Monks (where Sub-Zero and Scorpion could take the place of either Liu Kang or Kung Lao, which was BOGUS! Storyline wise Sad).

I however disagree with you, (with the possible sequel of Shaolin Monks showcasing an MK9 storyline). If there is another MK: Shaolin Monks releasing, than it should showcase the storyline from MK4 (like the original Shaolin Monks did with the MKII storyline). Remember the ending for the original MK: Shaolin Monks? *cough* Quan Chi (LOL). Exactly!!! It would fit perfect for a sequel Wink.

It would be great if Midway and/or WB put a feature like that (4 players in a battle) in the possible sequel of another Shaolin Monks. It would "AMP" up the game!! (LOL). I would love to see FREE-4-ALL battles, TEAM-PLAY, TEAM-FATALITIES, etc. But I don't think it would be a good idea to have a 4-PLAYER KO-OP (ROFL), that would be taking it a little too far!

I also think that: if they ever released a sequel to MK: Shaolin Monks, than it should feature Online Gameplay! (e.g. Online KO-OP mode, Online battles, etc.) Now, that would be AWESOME!! (LOL).

Id love another Shaolin Monks game.
The idea for the second one was with Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
A koncept sketch kan be found at trmk.org

The 4 player idea kould be kool but think of the horrible ways it kould be done.

All the best,
Razer Scorpion

I thought it was fine (and rather humorous) with the characters replacing Liu Kang and Kung Lao. it also only made sense with Scorpion doing the fatality to Kintaro, especially the head rip part.

It mainly satisfied the "Man, I love doing the pit stage... Would love to do that with Scorpion..." sort of thing, though if possible, could make it so that all the places are present for each character you play as, just played in different orders depending on who you are.

Hmm, yeah, MK4 would be a great place to put it... but MK3 THROUGH 4 would be better as that would cover Khan's invasion of earthrelm, the extermination squads, and many characters to play as (including Shiva!). Would also include bosses like Motaro...

Then eventually leading in to MK4 with Quan Chi and Shinnok and bringing Goro back.

That would be cool.

This should probably go in the Shaolin Monks Forum (blah blah blah narc narc.)

Anyway, they had planned on making a Shaolin Monks 2. It was cancelled due to Midway going Bankrupt. They released two pieces of concept art (one of which has gone missing from the internet), but nothing else. Nothing on timelines, characters, or anything.

Here is the only remnant of SM2:

Hell yeah! I second that motion...

I thought Shaolin Monks could have been a lot longer and had a lot more to do in it. Still pretty rad but...

Recently I posted that I think MK9 should have an entire MK Shaolin Monks game included that perhaps doubles as a side story or perhaps pseudo tutorial (kinda like in Armageddon), which I think is a pretty sweet idea.

Sure beats the lame ass MK racing or Tetris games included in previous releases.

But yeah, put me down for another MK Shaolin Monks...

I personally loved the tetris game, though the racing game was rather unfinished and didn't have nearly enough cool traps (like the rollers in the desert)

It was the spiral temple showing Kang and Lao decending with Raiden on the top.

Yeah Iv seen it then.
You sure it wasn't supposed to be Scorpion and Sub-Zero?
Thats who Vincent Proce wanted the game to be based around right?
Although with Raiden there it kould be assumed its Kang and Lao.

I didn't really like this art. It reminded me of a stage in the Tekken 5 mini game: The Devil Within I think it was kalled. You play as Jin Kazama and there is a stage very similar to this one.

With that said I still hope to get a SM2 after the next proper MK title.

All the best,
Razer Scorpion
