Okay, I'm just going to admit it.
I'm so very sad at how so many people dislike Bo' Rai Cho. He's an amazing character with a kick ass story.
People think he's garbage because he drinks and barfs, but there's a reason why he drinks and barfs, and it ain't comic relief. Read closely:
Bo' Rai Cho left Outworld to help protect Earthrealm from Shao Kahn. In doing so, he had to give up his family, including his daughter Saisha and his grandson Po. The death of his wife Delma had already turned him into an alcoholic, so leaving the rest of his family only made it worse. I will say, though, a good thing came out of it. Through out his years he learned to channel his drinking fury into something constructive, Drunken Boxing. This is what made him such a great fighter.
Bo' Rai Cho took Liu Kang under his wing, because he reminded him so much of Po. After Shang Tsung's defeat, he returned home, only to find his hometown destroyed and his family dead. Thus more drinking. Eventually all the drinking caught up with his body, and he began to vomit uncontrollably from time to time. Being the genius that he is, he learned to channel that into something useful as well.
You see, it's his harsh life that lead to his drinking, not funny jokes. I have very much respect for Bo' Rai Cho. He learned to live on for his family and not give in to the misery. I truly feel that Bo' Rai Cho is a great addition to the MK roster.
Well, do you like him now?

Bo'Rai'Cho has my respect. Nice to see some backstory for the poor guy. Let's hope he's included in the MK9 roster.

I was originally going to post this in the Kobra thread, as the discussion ended up aiming towards Bo' Rai Cho. But this thread is more suiting.
"I like Bo' Rai Cho, I always have. I just think that the puking, farting, and whatever else, t'is cheap and tacky. If he has thought so many great warriors over the years, then why does he resort to such drunken foolery, and cheap tricks when in a fight?"
Having read the back story that you posted, Riyakou, I know understand the puking, but still don't like it. I'm sure a martial arts master like himeslf would have much better tricks up their sleeves, regardless of their alcoholism. Surely the booze didn't was away all his kombat knowlege. Chances are he could still summon fire from his hands, like a lot of MK characters, if he tried to.

Well I still don't like him man the over the top stupidity thats tied to him just turns me off the kharacter. He has my respect and I don't hate him........I just don't like him either. If be becomes more serious and they develop this theres no reason to say he wouldn't become a fav kharacter.

I hear you, and the farting is a bit confusing, but Bo' Rai Cho reminds me of me.
He takes what he has and makes the best of it. That's why he's so skillful.

To be honest, I could probably handle the puking (considering his backstory and all) if they just got rid of the farting. This is supposed to be an R- rated game for adults. Having a character fart fire at his opponent as a fatality is just kiddie shit.

However the "ughh that was a stiinky one!" lol was quite funny the first few times.

Yeah, it was, but he's still a great character nonetheless.

He does have his moments. An interesting backstory, and a big hand to plan in the MK universe (having trained alot of Earthrealms finest), so he's defo not a bad character. There is still a lot of potential in hin yet.

Bo' Rai Cho is a huge chunk of the MK storyline, especially due to his connection to Kitana
As I've stated before, any character relative to Kitana remains in the series, as the Mortal Kombat story is based around her life. Since
Bo' Rai Cho commands her Outworld military forces, and he's pretty much Liu Kang's father figure, he's bound to be around for a while.
At least he should be.

I'd defo like to see him return, beacuse of the afore-mentioned back story. These are the kind of connections, and character intertwinings that got me hooked on MK's story when MKII was released.
