This was introduced back in MK3, and it seemed comical for the first few times, but it got really old really fast. For anyone who is wondering what I'm talking about, I am, of course, talking about that rigid stance that MK fighters seem to take before falling over after the last punch in any round. For a split second they stand bolt upright, and keep this position as the fall over at a 90 degree angle like a lump of lumber.
This is hugely unrealistic, and completely upsets the overall vibe of the fight. I got over it in MK3, but then they started adding it into all the follow ups. I was playing MK Vs DCU just a few minutes ago, and noticed the characters do it in this game too.
Why can't they collapse like real people. Take out the comical approach, and give us something a little bit more realistic. _________________ Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen!

MK INFORMATION!!!
The characters fall like that becuase of a defect in an energy balance.
Their bodies lose a great amount of chi energy in such a fight, and at a certain point the energy becomes unbalanced and drops to a bare minimum for a split second, causing the person to freeze up. This is why they get up so theatrically, to build up the chi once more (i.e. Raiden teleporting up, pounding the ground, then kicking the air).
This way of falling is just one of the many factors that are a part what connects the MK universe, as everyone unknowingly shares the same energy. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

Yep, that's what I like about Mortal Kombat.
There's a reason for everything, even if it's stupid. Rage _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

That sounds like a load of crap to me, dude. Sounds like the MK Team just made that up to cover their ass about the fact that the cast like stupid when they fall over. _________________ Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen!

Well, actually, I made it up.
I figured I'd give it something, instead of just letting it sit there making me feel sad. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

Well, I'd rather just stick with what I got.

I think it's cause it made sprite animation a lot easier... In the old MKs...
They left it in newer MKs cause nobody complained and cause it's one of the things that made MK... well, MK.
In other games, like SF, people can fall to their knees or jump 20 feet back in very slow motion, but not in MK.
In Mortal Kombat they fall like timber wood. _________________

Yeah, it is something that makes MK unique.
With Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, and DOA, they leap into the air with the slightest touch, and the more you hit them, the more they rise. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

Heehee, I liked how they fell when they tripped in MK3, and stayed in that particular position when they lost.

Hehehehe, I know exactly what you mean... It was funny to me, too.
Umm...MKWarehouse doesn't approve of embedding their links.
TMK warned me about that once, edit your post, delete those pics... _________________
