I'll go, but it'll probably be half-assed again.
Did you know that Deception contradicts most of the endings in Deadly Alliance? Most of them show the "good guys" winning, when in fact, the Deadly Alliance wins.

Well, that's cause they had no ideas.
I bet MK Deception wasn't in the plan when they made Deadly Alliance. So the good guys win mostly.
But then they got to working on MKD, and they had to think of something so Raiden, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi live to fight Onaga.

Well, the opening scene had shown that the Deadly Alliance gained victory.
If you look closely, Johnny Cage, Jax, Kung Lao, Sonya, and Kitana are all lying unconscious on the steps of Shang Tsung's Palace. And in Ermac's ending, you see that they are under the control of Onaga.
I don't think Deception contradicts anything, really.
But here's a good one, did you know Mortal Kombat 4 has more canon endings than any other MK game?

Canon, in terms of fiction, means that something is accurately tied to the respective storyline, and is most likely a forshadow of the upcoming addition to the story.
Usually something in the succeeding piece responds to previous one, making it canon.
An example:
In Liu Kang's MK4 ending, Kitana offers him the opportunity to become king of Edenia, of which he refuses.
In Kitana's MKDA ending, she holds a silent moment for Liu Kang, and wishes he had accepted her offer to become king. Thus, Liu Kang's MK4 ending is canon.

Yeah, I heard of that.
The name itself is proof he wasn't a real character.
