the mysticism and magickal side of mortal kombat would be an issue especially with Scorpion, Raiden and Sub Zero
I like how he wants to do the martial arts "I think one of the reasons why I chose such a gritty, grounded base was because I am such a huge fan of movies like Flashpoint, Kill Zone, The Protector, Ong-bak. I came at that from a choreography end and lately I’ve been a little tired of the wirework Crouching Tiger style of martial arts and really gravitated towards a hard hitting, in-your-face, ground-and-pound, just going for it kind of martial arts " (collider.com). I have to admit I'm tired of wirework and prefer the older in your face style. _________________ His approach will be as silent as new fallen snow...his attack as fierce as winter's blizzard...his devastation as brutal as winter's relentless chill...he is complete (Lin Kuei Grandmaster)
So fair... yet so cold... like a morning of pale spring still clinging to winter's chill (Grima Wormtongue)
In the depths of Winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invinsible summer (Albert Camus)

Yeah, yeah, I read the article almost the second it was posted. It didn't alliviate anything. All it did was make me think "Oh, so he wants to ruin the story, then take all the 'realism' out of his own movie and then ruin the story of HIS OWN story." Nope, sorry. You can't take out all the mythical creatures and then say "Hey, let's make people have super powers, though!"
Regardless of whether or not he knows his stuff DOESN'T make this a good idea. _________________

Agreed completely. He does seem to know what he is talking about as regards MK, but he doesn't seem to be putting any of this knowledge into play. Instead, he is taking the bare essentials of MK, and simply fucking around with it in classic Hollywood style. Why concentrate on getting a story right, when you can get rich off ruining it. _________________ Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen!

Could You Beat Up Everyone From "Street Fighter"?- That's the best question anyone has been asked since this short got released
I want to know what Ed Boon thinks of this whole fiasco. _________________ Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen!

Come on, really?
You're calling that crap.
I'm just as big of a veteran as you, but I think it's time for a huge change. The direction they're taking Mortal Kombat with this movie is probably a good one. Yeah, Braka shouldn't be having dreads, but still.
Just give it a shot, man. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

The interview actually cleared up a lot questions for me…I think that the concept of focusing on the Sub-zero, Scorpion rivalry is awesome. It reminds me of Enter the dragon (a film that had a massive influence on the first game) In that movie Bruce Lee did not win that tournament, essentially Mr. Roper did by beating Bolo…but the rivalry between Bruce and Han still takes center stage.
I think that the way he is proposing this alternative realm kinda thing is very cool, to me it has the possibility of grounding our own realm…making it more believable and relatable and yet in this other place anything can happen, like mortals shooting fireballs from their hands…lets face it that’s not something you see at your average martial arts tournament but what this suggests is that maybe if you took these martial artists and put them in this other realm they can do amazing things.
I’m still not entirely sold on the Baraka character, personally I would like to see a proper subterranean out world monster…Baraka as a surgeon gone mad doesn’t do it for me but besides that I think this has a lot of potential to be the Mortal Kombat movie we’ve all been waiting for _________________

I totally agree.
Baraka's story is really the only thing that sucks. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

The problem with Baraka is he's distinctly otherworldly and that doesn't translate very well into the real world what are the options?
1.) Plastic Surgeon
2.) Amputee Doctor
3.) experiement gone wrong
4.) General nutcase _________________ His approach will be as silent as new fallen snow...his attack as fierce as winter's blizzard...his devastation as brutal as winter's relentless chill...he is complete (Lin Kuei Grandmaster)

Baraka could simply be a hideous renegade warrior who leads an underground malitia, just as he leads the Tarkatan race in Outworld.
The two blades could simply be blades hidden beneath his clothes.
It's not that difficult to translate things. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

Yes but how many people would be satisfied with him hiding his blades under his clothes? I wouldn't be he wouldn't be Baraka without them coming out of his arms. _________________ His approach will be as silent as new fallen snow...his attack as fierce as winter's blizzard...his devastation as brutal as winter's relentless chill...he is complete (Lin Kuei Grandmaster)

Yeah, that's true.
Still, they can't just leave Baraka out of the movie. He's a major part of Mortal Kombat. Hell, people flipped their fucking lids when they found out he was in MKDeception. Baraka is bad-fucking-ass. There's gotta be a way to put him in that movie. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

Yes Baraka is badass.
Btw man when I first posted this topic I was extremely frustrated. Ruining kharacters (to me) and Scorpion not being Japanese and shit y'no it was too much for me then and there. You guys should know I ain't afraid to voice my opinion on MK and get a little "over-steamed" from time to time BUT!......This was before the MK9 trailer hit and cheered me up. Its not that its krap....I mean I like the style and shit but IS NOT the Mk movie Iv been waiting for.
If we get the movie Iv wanted then yes I wouldn't mind seeing this made.
