In a world where many pints of blood are spilled over a course of 2 rounds, I find it hard to believe you can bleed to death.

On the other MK forum that I frequent, a majority of the members believe that MK9 should be the title of the game due to one of Boon's twitters. (Because, ya know, twitter is SO the epitome of factual evidence >__>) Anywho, this game is Mortal Kombat the 8th. MKvDC did not take place in MK canon series, and the last game that did was MKA (despite that game being terrible) and it was the seventh.
I've always referred to this game as MK8.

MK: Armageddon wasn't TERRIBLE. There are certainly worse MK games more deserving of the title TERRIBLE... For Example: MK Advance.
Anyway, right. Only games that follow the canon storyline should be given an accurate number. Spin offs don't count.

mk shoalin monks could be number eight and dont say it cant because it takes place in mk 2. Consider the folloing...Mortal kombat 9 goes along the same lines because the story is right befor raiden gets killed by shao kahn and he sends a mental message to the old raiden and the game replays with the enlightend raiden knowing the bassis of wats gunna happen. so tht plays in mk 1,2,and3. so tht would controdict the whole idea here.
and if anyone had already mentioned wat i just said im srry i didnt read all the comments i must of missed u put tht.

MK:SM could not be MK8 for a number of reasons.
A: It's not cannon as such. It was more a retelling of the second game.
B: It was released before MK:A, so even if it was cannon it would have been MK7, in turn making MK:A MK8.
This Mortal Kombat is actually based after the MK:A story. Yes, it's wrapped around the first three games because of time travel, or whatever, but it's still continuing on from the Armageddon.

hmmm......Some very interesting point's been put forward. They should just call it by a sub-title to save confusion and scrap the whole MK# thing. Becouse when you think about it most games or movies get to about the 4th then they start using sub/co titles. MK started doing this anyway after MK4 with MK DA and MKA so i dont know where this MK9 came from anyway. My guess would be that there was no name given yet and fans have worked out that its the 9th Mk to be made so people start calling it MK9. I have never herd any of the MK team say that it is called MK9 yet either

well i dont rlly care about the hole cannon thing so i dont rlly count tht so i think tht if there is goin to be a mk 8 i think it would be mk vs dcu but befor the rable starts i know how it can and cant be number 8 but im just sayin i think it would be the most qualified and my previous comment bout mk shaolin monks was not rlly one of my ideas persay but more of an up for disscution kinda thing and all of are mortal kombat intalect ranges in different areas of expertice so there will always be cotrodicting theorys.

oh and actuly this "mk9" s real name is actuly just mortal kombat and its like a homage to mk 1,2,and 3 so its kinda like a trilogy but its not quite.

Well i dont think it should be MK7,MK8 or MK9 ,it should be Mortal Kombat then the Sub title like they have been doing with the others after mk 4.
Its simple you dont go into the shop and ask for MK5 when the 5th is called MK DA. So it goes with what i was saying before where did this MK9/MK8 come from anyway?
So lets get technical you have MK1,MK2,MK3,UMK3,MKT,MK4,MKDA,MKD,MKA and the list goes on but wait im have 9 listed but more to go ?!?! So if everyones going by the number of MK's made well Armageddon should be MK9 then.
See where im coming from? If you want to get technical this one should be MK12 or something. You have to go with sub-titles when the chain gets this long

Very true, when i was young tht always puzzeld me. i mean theres like 12 mk s but the newest one is called mk watever number it was back when i didnt understand. But of chores like any movie or game there gunna add spin offs to the franchise just to get some money and maby shoot for a differnt age groupe like mk vs dcu even tho technally tht wasnt litterily a spinoff but u get the point. And maby ed boon does this on purpose to see how the fans deal with it or maby it was just his mistake for calling mk vs dcu number 8. Or maby it was all part or mk destiney lol.

IT IS MK9, MK8 seems too akward, plus MK vs DC isnt canon, but yet Its the 8th, so AKA It is MK8, this is MK9, but just callm it Mortal Kombat and get over it.
