Ten characters I want in MK9
1.Mileena
2.Baraka
3.Cyrax
4.Sonya
5.Reptile
6.Sindel
7.Kitana
8.Jax
9.Motaro (all 4 legs)
10.Sheeva
But for a full roster I would want all the MK1 and MK2 characters with a few MK3 in to get that retro feel, for dlc some brand new characters maybe :-D

I didn't include characters I already know for sure are going to be in the game (i.e. Reptile, Mileena, Sektor), just 10 characters I want in the game who haven't been 100% confirmed yet (to my knowedge).

I agree with Amphibious on Sheeva and Motaro
- Sindel (With her hair looking like it did in MK3)
- Baraka (A Return to Fatalities? You just gotta have Baraka)
- Smoke (With both Grey ninja and Cyborg outfits hopefully)
- Kabal (Nightwolf has his Tomahawks so Kabal should keep his Hookswords)
- Cyrax (During the Finish him thing I hope the cyborgs flash like in MK3)
- Sheeva (Her Skin Rip Fatality would look awesome on the ps3/xbox 360)
- Kitana (IMO you can't have Mileena without Kitana)
- Ermac (This one's a long shot but would be great to have him in here)
- Rain (with his UMK3 look but updated)
- Jax (With Head Smash Fatality)
I didn't include the MK1 guys because I'm 60% sure they'll be in there and 70% sure Shang, Raiden and Shao will be in there. Also I'd prefer the shokans and Motaro as DLC.

EDIT: I misunderstood the topic. I didn't include already confirmed characters. The above 7 are simply characters that I hope make the roster cut.

The already confirmed i am excited for: scorpion, reptile and Sektor, and overall the 8 confirmed, the othrts are noob and ermac and and Smoke, kitana since you cant have mileena without Kitana, Cyrax and some more others.

So far we have Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Milleena, Seckor, Cyrax, Nightwolf, Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, and Jax. Am I missing anyone here, folks?
Also, Shao Kahn, and Raiden have been shown in the movie clips, but no playable footage of them has been released yet.
